The Island of Malta region
The seaside town of Birzebbuga is situated at the southeast of the island of Malta and lies between Kalafrana to the south and the fishing village of Marsaxlokk to the northeast, and although Birzebbuga is on the coast, it is the meeting point of four beautiful valleys, which are Wied Dalam, Wied Zembaq, Wied Qoton and Wied Buni.
Prehistoric remains of elephants, deer, hypos and many others were found in a cave at Ghar Dalam. It was revealed that during prehistoric times these animals used toinhabit this island, but the most famous discovery in the cave was the two teeth belonging to Neanderthal man. This discovery was made in 1937.
Borg in Nadur, a megalithic building is situated on a hillside overlooking St. George’s Bay. This building was erected by stone Age man, and was used later by Bronze Age inhabitants. Tools made of stones, flints, and artifax were discovered at this site.
Beautifull weather nearly all year round.

"Fantastic Hosts - Great Location and Views"
In January my wife and I had four lovely weeks in Malta. The apartment in Birżebuġa was exactly as described on the website and the view of St George's Bay from the living room window and roof terrace was wonderful. Leo, the owner offered to collect us from the airport and kept in regular touch by text and e-mail. The apartment has wifi, which I don't think is mentioned on the website.
We liked Birżebuġa and found two good bars where we were made very welcome. Restaurants are limited in Birżebuġa, but we really enjoyed the China Rose, which was close to our apartment. The owner Paul and his Manageress made us very welcome. The chefs were great and were willing to adapt Chinese dishes from the menu to suit our particular tastes.
We decided not to hire a car, but use the local bus service. This was excellent and a weekly bus pass was €12 euros. The bus ride to Valetta was only twenty minutes and it was only a ten minute ride to Marsaxlokk, where there were lots of very good restaurants. We particularly liked the food at Mr Fitz and the lovely Diane was a wonderful hostess. We even went by bus and ferry to Gozo.
About 2½ weeks into our holiday we had a problem with a water leak in the kitchen area, so our host Leo transferred us to one of his other apartments in St Julian's. It took about week to sort out the problem, so with only a couple of days left of our holiday we decided to stay in St Julian's. Leo also offered to take us to the airport, which was great.
This was my wife's first visit to Malta and she absolutely loved it. Leo and his wife Alice were fantastic hosts and we will definitely be going back.
Thanks Rob for your positive comments. It was nice to host you and your wife and I hope to see you again. Thanks again.

"Peaceful and relaxing location in Traditional surroudings"
Alice and Leo the owners were very helpful and ensured we had everything for our stay even arranging and deliverying a hire car for us. The property is very old and is traditional Maltese it is exceptionally clean and we found it very comfortable for the two us. The roof terrace where we spent most of our time is a little tricky to access but providing you take care is safe and provides ever changing views of the small harbour full of local boats.
The beach at Pretty Bay is only a 15 minute stroll and provides one of the few sandy beaches in Malta. Whilst the view from the beach is dominated by Malta Free Port watching the container ships come and go provides entertainment on the beach. The area is peaceful compared to the busy resorts further north and suited us fine as we prefer not to be in a main tourest region. However there are plenty of choices for places to eat within walking distance or even to collect take away. The freash bread from the old local bakery is a must.
We had a great holiday and would have no hesitation in going back again.
