The Loire Valley region

Loire Castles: no visit to the Loire Valley would be complete without visiting some of the famous Chateaux - Chenonceau, stretching across the river Cher, considered by many to be the most beautiful of the Loire chateaux; during July and August the gardens are illuminated at night - Villandry, with its oustanding gardens.

Brenne Regional Park: we are situated on the edge of the Brenne Regional Park which covers over 160,000 hectares. Famous for its lakes, numbering over 1,000, they provide a diverse natural habitat for an abundance of wildlife.

Futuroscope theme park is close to the city of Poitiers and can be reached in around an hour from your gite.

Loches

Amboise is a charming town on the bank of the Loire. Although there is a beautiful château to visit there is also a Renaissance manor house (Clos Luce) that was the last home to Leonardo da Vinci and it contains a large number of his inventions. Close by is the Aquarium du Val de Loire which has the largest fresh water fish collection in Europe.

Loches is a medieval citadel that is only 30 minutes drive away. This exceptional town has impressive city gates and narrow cobblestone streets that lead to a château and an enormous keep that is famous for its torture chambers. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a large market and in July and August there will be night markets.

"Everything you could want from a rental cottage"

We stayed in october 2013. I would highly recommend these rental properties. The gite that we stayed in was furnished to a very high standard and was very comfortable with a lovely open fireplace (chopped wood provided). We booked partly because of the pool and it did not disappoint. It is a good size and was heated to around 29 degrees in late October so that our 3 and 5 year old had a great time in it.

Marie and Marc make you feel extremely welcome and are excellent and helpful hosts. They provide a welcome pack of essentials on arrival and Marie was extremely helpful trying to locate a watch that we thought we had lost in one of the local towns (in fact hidden by our 3 year old). Their extensive list of DVDs was also a hit with the children. There are bikes available on site which we used to enjoy the surrounding countryside.

You are within 30 mins to an hour of many of the beautiful castles of the Loire. There is a great animal park 2kms down the road with many types of deer. wolves and a tiger and our kids loved the huge zoo which is about 35 mins drive away.

We had a great time and would love to return. I could not fault it in any way.

"Our 7 year old enjoyed the holiday so much she cried when we had to leave!"

We - grandparents, parents and children - had a fantastic holiday at these gites. The standard of the accommodation (we stayed in Saule) was very good - we really appreciated the quality finish and fittings here. Marie and Marc were wonderful hosts - there whenever we needed them (restaurant bookings, borrowing bikes, taking boulangerie order on Saturday evenings which they deliver on Sunday mornings) but unobtrusive at all other times.
Our children had the 'best holiday ever' playing freely with the children staying in the other Gites. The heated pool with cover was the highlight - fully retracted when the weather is good and when the weather is less good the cover is left on. As a result our children swam for hours every day, including during a storm!
There are also lots of quiet roads nearby which was perfect for cycling - even for children.
We all had a lovely time and were very sad to leave when our 2 week holiday was up - we are not surprised they have so many return visitors.

"Just perfect !"

We thoroughly enjoyed our 9 days. The Villas are extremely well equipped (even the dishwasher tabs were included), spotlessly clean and offer real comfort. The pool was well used during our stay and is a lovely temperature - our little 4 year old girl enjoyed many hours of swimming. The Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday was a great hit with everyone - children & adults alike!
Marie and Marc are wonderfully friendly and very conscientious - they work hard to ensure all their guests are happy....and we were...extremely!!

"Delightful hosts in this rural setting"

We had a lovely welcome from Marc and Marie the owners of these lovely holiday cottages. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to the Saule give which is beautifully laid out with charm and all the modern conveniences you could possibly need. We couldn't fault the site and the unobtrusive help of the owners. We made several trips to the surrounding castles and sites of the region. A word of warning is that the position is quite rural which is either a positive or negative depending on your view point. I imagine it would be a good spot with children as the pool is nice. We did quite a lot of driving but the venue is great to relax especially with the barbecue.

"Perfect gite in beautiful relaxing location"

Just returned from a wonderful stay at Luxury Loire Gites. The Saule gite is furnished to a very high standard. spacious and very comfortable. Surrounded by lovely open space with lots of things to keep us all occupied - boules , skittles pitch, children's playground and great pool with a most amazing retractable cover which meant that you could swim in any weather. My daughter practically lived in the pool for the fortnight!
There is a lot to do in the surrounding area from visiting local markets, beautiful medieval towns and chateaux all within reasonable driving distance. We also canoed on some of the rivers nearby and cycled around the quiet country lanes free from any busy traffic.
The owners are incredibly hospitable and were very helpful and knowledgeable on the local area.
A splendid location and one which I look forward to visiting again soon.

"Absolutely fabulous"

Marc and Marie are perfect hosts to their guests at la richaudiere. We stayed in Saule Gite which was fully equipped with all mod cons and all those extras which some French gites do not supply. Extensive grounds which Marc lovingly tends, wonderful enclosed swimming pool which opens up in hot weather. Also Bicycles with helmets available to cycle around the area full of sunflowers and small villages. Marie amd Marc will ensure that you will experience a perfect place for a relaxed holiday in France.

"Wonderful hospitality in a beautiful location"

We stayed at the Luxury Loire Gites for a month and it really was a home from home. The couple who run the complex made our stay very special, going out of their way to help us, so much so we felt we were staying with friends.

You will struggle to find a comparable place to stay, which provides this standard of accommodation at this price. The Gites are well appointed and the pool is excellent, heated with an all weather cover that means if you are staying out of season you can still enjoy the facilities.

The location is right next to a beautiful National Park, close to several pretty towns and chateaux. It is around an hour's drive to the most famous Loire attractions, but the countryside on route is lovely.

"Relaxed, friendly, and superb quality...a home from home !"

We booked this over the internet. On arrival we couldn't have been made more welcome. The place was of a very high standard with lots of good facilities (the kids loved the heated pool and playground). A lovely, relaxed setting where you can just escape from the world (after 5 days at Disneyland Paris it was just what we were after).

Plenty to explore in the surrounding area (Chatteaux heaven !!)

Would happily return.....

Hope to welcome you and your family again in the near future! Marie & Marc
