Located near a small town with all amenities, it is a perfect starting point for visiting the Loire Valley castles and the rich local architecture, go wine tasting, enjoy the local gourmet restaurants, go shopping for paintings and antiques, and generally enjoy life and relax in a very beautiful setting.
Built in the 19th century with the luminous white stones used in the Chateaux de la Loire, the chateau offers a beautiful setting as well as comfortable and spacious rooms with abundant outside light. All living rooms and bedrooms face to the south with a view to the park and the surrounding countryside up to 15 kilometers. It is well furnished and perfectly maintained with all amenities expected today.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Vienne region
La Plaine is an excellent starting point to discover the region of Loire Valley/Poitou. Its very rich architectural heritage (the famous castles of the Loire Valley, abbeys, historical city centres, roman sanctuaries ...) and its charming landscape has come to a legend.
The french gastronomic tradition is maintained in the region with fidelity. Within a short distance from La Plaine, numerous quality restaurants, typical old fashioned food markets with genuine traditional, regionally made products can be found.
In this region of vineyards, visitors are also warmly welcomed by wine producers to taste their local production (Haut Poitou, but also, all the wines from the Loire Valley, e.g. Chinon, Saumur, Bourgueil,..).
Lencloitre area
La Plaine has a library with a very complete documentation on regional point of interest for visitors with a number of selected sightseeing itineraries.
Within less than 30 minutes, one can enjoy the exceptional Futuroscope, a resort dedicated to the latest technology of image, and both a 9 holes and an 18 holes golf course (Golf of Haut Poitou in Saint Cyr).
And, for children and grown ups alike, don't miss the Puy du Fou, an exceptional attraction park focused on history. Children will love the attack of the dungeon, the flight ballet of eagles and hawks, the attack of the vikings, etc.

Richelieu - the city built from scratch in the 17th century by the famous cardinal of Richelieu, prime minister of Louis the 14th, the Sun King.
Chinon - for a journey through one of the more fascinating period of French history. Visit its medieval royal castles where Joan of Arc recognized the King of France. Stroll through the untouched medieval city with its many shops and boutiques. Enjoy its superb gastronomy and its wines.
Poitiers - a lively city, capital of Alienor of Aquitaine, with a 12th century palace and early (3rd century) Christian churches.

How to get there
La Plaine is a 20 minute drive from Chatellerault or a 30 minute drive from Poitiers:
Access by plane: Poitiers-Biard airport (30 Minutes) is connected to London (Ryan AIr) and several european Cities (Amsterdam, Milan, Zurich).
Access from Paris: By car: A 10 highway 3 hours (Exit 26 Chatellerault Nord) By high speed train (TGV): 1 h 25 from Paris Montparnasse (to Chatellerault train station or Poitiers train station) or 1 h 30 minutes directly from Charles de Gaulle airport to Chatellerault train station).

Further details outdoors: The park of 11 hectares (25 acres) is entirely surrounded by a wall. It is composed of oak woods and prairies and lawns edged with hundred-year old trees. It also has a rose garden with over 200 rose bushes. The fenced swimming pool (10 meters by 5 meters) has a stone floored sun bath area and all necessary equipment for sun bath. The chateau of La Plaine also has a barbecue and a ping-pong table as well as large, flat lawns for playing soccer or other similar games.
