Palazzo del Duca is an historical mansion in the northern part of Tuscany (Lunigiana area) just a few miles from the famous 5 Terre coast in Liguria region. The area where Palazzo del Duca is located is still undiscovered. It is a region gem-set between mountains and sea and it is perfect for both lovers of skiing and of sea. The family run Palazzo del Duca, an ancient palace of the 17th century belonged to the Este Family, is located in the heart of a lovely small 12th century village surrounded by woods of chestnuts and by the most untouched nature of Italy where the tranquillity and the silence reign. Nestled in a landscape rich in historic and artistic value unknown to mass tourism, you can enjoy activities in close contact with nature. Lunigiana is a land still untouched and waiting to be discovered from the natural point of view. It offers the tourists a generally mild climate, a gentle and relaxing environment with hills covered with lush green forests and fish-filled streams with clear waters

The palace has its original features, like spacious living areas and terracotta floors, local sandstone portals and doors and stunning vaults. It also boasts a wonderful ancient staircase and in a bedroom there is even a fireplace, a 'must' for all the ancient Lords of the 1700.

It is divided into 5 lovely rental apartments for a total of approximately 500sq.m. In paticular the first floor has a dining/living room that can comfortably guests the whole group together. Its predominant features are the history you can breathe and the size of the spaces. It also has an internal garden of approx. 800 square meters where a 4x8 in ground swimming pool has been recently built. The garden is fenced (very safe for children) and full of flowers like lavender, herbs and roses.

Being located in a little village, it gives the opportunity to be not secluded and enjoy the walking distance bar, restaurant, butcher, sheep cheese and honey producer. Every day you can enjoy fresh local bread delivered by the baker. Once a week in specific days come vendors with food, fresh fruit and vegetables and also fresh, high quality fish.

At walking distance there is a river with stream water where you can swim.

Palazzo del Duca can meet different needs: for solo travellers, for honey moon holidaymakers, for families with children and especially for groups of various kinds. It is ideal for a 20 persons group although it can guest up to a maximum of 25 people.

Palazzo del Duca: ideal starting point for excursions and hikes: the choice is yours to make: explore the hills (on foot if you like) and valleys of Lunigiana, or drive half an hour to the coast at Lerici and Portovenere - the gateway to the Cinque Terre - or the marble quarries at Carrara. Also a few minutes away there are the Appenine lakes and the Passo del Lagastrello, or drive down the coast to Viareggio, Pisa and Lucca in an hour or so. In the winter you can ski in the close Prato Spilla (1350 meters) just 20 minutes far away by car.

How do damage deposits work?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Mifra (the owner) a message.

If Mifra (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
