We bought this lovely 583 square-foot apartment in 2013, when it was a small one-bedroom, and remodeled it in 2017 as a large studio, so that the bedroom, dining and kitchen areas all share an amazing view of the ocean. As a result, the space has a much more open feeling, with the view -and the breeze- flowing freely throughout. We just added wall-to-wall floor-to-ceiling windows in the sleeping area, so the view became even more stunning than it already was. It was very nice before and it's even nicer now.
The bedroom area features a comfy queen-size bed, and features a roll-down shade to keep out unwanted sunlight. There is also a love seat that could accommodate a small child, but please keep in mind occupancy by more than two guests needs to be arranged in advance.
The dining table has seating for four, or you may opt for the kitchen counter, where there are two high chairs. The balcony offers a cocktail table with two additional high chairs, from which you can enjoy the view in complete privacy. All the chairs and seat cushions are waterproof, so feel free to use them in your wet bathing suits.
The bathroom is equipped with a tank-less water heater, and there is a spacious walk-in closet as well as plenty of drawers and storage space. In the closets you'll find a beach umbrella, ice chest, towels and folding chairs, and the kitchen cabinets are well stocked with all the utensils, cookware and tableware you may need.
Before purchasing this unit, we scouted the area for several years looking for the perfect spot. During different visits to the island we stayed at the Ritz Carlton and Caribe Hilton hotels, the ESJ Towers, as well as the Marbella, Girasol and Raquet Club condominiums. All of them are right on the beach and offer easy access to the shops and restaurants on Isla Verde Ave, but for our taste they were either too big, too noisy and/or too crowded. Navigating immense lobbies, circling around parking structures and fighting traffic on Isla Verde Ave just wasn’t our idea of a nice vacation. Then we found the Amapola 14 condominium.
Only six minutes away from the airport, it is on a quiet dead-end street which can be accessed directly from the main highway without having to traverse busy Isla Verde Ave (surprisingly, airport noise is a non-issue). Since it has only 60 residential units (most of which are not offered for rent), the building is quiet, family oriented and peaceful, yet the hustle and bustle of Isla Verde is only a few steps away, with its top-rated dining, bars, supermarkets, cafes, banks, drug stores and shops.
The highlight, however, is the view. Everyone claims theirs is "amazing" and "the best," but wait until you see ours. It took our breath away the moment we walked in, and we knew right then and there this was the spot. No other hotel or condo in Isla Verde can match it, either because they don't have the height (we're on 12th floor) or because were built away from the shore to allow for pools and tennis courts. Sit in our balcony and enjoy the steady breeze while sipping a cup of coffee, a cold beer or a nice glass of wine. If you’re an early riser you’ll catch stunning sunrises, and if you’re lucky enough to be there during a full moon you’ll get to experience a romantic moonrise reflected over the ocean. We truly believe this is the best possible spot in all of Isla Verde, and think you will agree.
