"Overall poor experience"

Review of cottageWe have stayed in many beautiful places all over the world and only ever outstanding reviews from us. On this occasion, however, our review is poor. For this property, a 3pm check-in … More

At not ime in this review did they state they left the premises without saying and left it in a disgusting condition. This has been over looked so i will address the issues that have been raised and add our own comments.we normaly only have weekly rentals but went out of our way to accomadate this family. What we expected on contacting them on return to uk was an appology for their behaviour, not a bad review.

All accomadation has an arrival and departure time. Most times are 3-4pm arrival and 10 am departure.they do not add we made the cottage avalible for them for 1.30pm.
Be it a 5 star hotel or a small gite in France all accomadation have Rules and regulations, this is not only on behalf of the owners but protection for the guests.World travelers would know this.

The cottage was not cold as the previous guests had only left at 10.30 that morning so the property had not been empty.the cottage has 3 electric heaters and is double glassed.the outside temp that particular week-end was in the high
With regard to the notice about septic tank this is a generic sign as the cottage was with a well known company for the last 4 years.they insist it is on display for the guests protection and they can be found in all french rental property. we do say in our guest paperwork that we provide special bags for disposable nappies and sanitary items we do not comment on a guest age as this is too personal and irrelevent. This booking had a 2 year old so this information was relevant.
The bath mats are infact are Ikea family friendly non slip Bath Mats Fully washable and are laundered between each booking.these can be found on their web site not peices of carpet as suggested.the plug socket is 2.5 mtr up beside a brandnew(fitted end March2014)wash basin/vanity unit with mirror and shelf.we even provid a step up so children can wash their hands. In photo this can be seen as can the reverse non slip backing on bath mat.we apologise for overlooking the dust in the socket.

With regard to priceing this nightly rate is based on a 7 day rental, set by holiday lettings. It was a late booking and Easter these guests was sent a quote which stated the price and to only to confirm the booking if she agreed to the terms and conditions.all loged by holiday lettings.

With regard to asking guests to remove bedding on leaving it is a pity they did not do this as their young daughter had been very unwell and had vomited all over the bedding. The bed left like this and the towels used to clean up the mess thrown in the bottom of the shower.we do not expect our cleaner to clean up guests personal mess, irrespective of how much they have paid .
Children have accidents but in the paperwork we supply (rules and reg) we ask if there is a problem please inform us so we can sort out the problem before the next guests arrive. If they had paid a security deposit which they did not as they refused they could not have drove away leaving the cottage in a disgusting state.
I note the word contraband is used, this in itself means haveing something you know you should not.In this case extra heaters. It is against our Ins conditions for guests to use electric appliances wihout agreement.

We do not have a Cesspit, we have a modern filtration septic tank.Inspection last autum was no my husband does not inspect one.He does however make sure the toilet is working prior to guests leaving so that it is in a fully working order for next guests.
there are other comments which are totaly irrelivant Flooring fridge it is a normal uk standard fridge.etc.
Lastly I would like to add with regard to the comment about my wife being like a head teacher.prior to our retirement she ran a very busy hospital department and had been in the NHS for 25 I think she can say she has more than adaquate experiance with dealing with the general public.we do have high standars but that is what our guests expect and what we hope we provide them with.please decide for yourself.
