The Balducci Palace, well noted for its historic value as a prime example of a seventeenth century building, is of National importance. In a wing of the palace one independent apartment was constructed with the view on internal garden.
The apartment is completely furnished and it is divided in the following zones: dining room with kitchen corner (refrigerator, stove, washing machine), living room with working fireplace and 2 single sofa bed, bedroom with 1 double-bed and a normal TV, bathroom with shower and a small hall.
The independent apartment, which has a kitchen corner, is a good alternative for the accommodations which offer a bedroom, because it is cheaper.
Opportunity to discover the artistic treasures, gastronomical products and the natural beauty of Gubbio.

The architecture of Gubbio represents, perhaps, the masterpiece of the medieval period and of the 13th-14th centuries: intact towers, facades of houses blackened from the centuries, Gothic churches and palaces that symbolise the power of this medieval city-state.
Gubbio is waiting for you with its medieval palaces, its churches which date from the pre-Roman era to the end of the fifteenth century, with its museums and its shops and stands, selling local crafts and foods.. Exciting folklore, artistic and cultural events take place from May to November: local festivals (the Festa dei Ceri, 15 May, the National Crossbow competition, the last Sunday of May and the Regional Crossbow competition, 14 August); the music and theatre seasons ( in July and August ); the Truffle fair (starting the 1st of November) and the Antiques Market (held on the third week of every month). Due to its geographical position, from Gubbio you can easily reach other towns of relevant artistic and historical reputation: Perugia and Assisi (40 Km), Spoleto, Todi and Urbino (100 Km).
The Umbria region
Few regions can give such intense emotions as Umbria. Exploring this land of different characters and spirits is like entering a dimension in which suggestive spirituality, artistic heritage and the quality of the natural environmental melt into harmonious perfection. Surrounding oneself by the peace of the countryside, letting oneself be drawn into the soft colours of a landscape that seems to belong to a Renaissance painting is like sharing the secret rhythm of a world in which humans and the quality of human life make one common value.
An ancient land that still releases vital energies that awaken its visitors, arousing their curiosity, opening their minds and their hearts. An experience in discovering the art of living, both through places of spirituality, and the authentic expression of a culture with a wealth of knowledge and flavours.
Walking, cycling or riding are the best ways to become truly familiar with the areas to be visited. But the most important thing is to be in the right spirit, to “keep your eyes open”, to be ready to meet people, to meet yourselves and the land you are travelling through.
Laying on the slopes of Monte Ingino, Gubbio is one of the most ancient towns of Umbria, extremely well preserved during centuries and rich of monuments testifying its glorious past.
Two important witnesses of the past are the Tavole Eugubine, one of most important documents referring to the ancient people called Italici and the Roman Theatre just outside the walls of the town. Dominated from the top by the Basilica on which the rests of St. Ubaldo are buried, Gubbio keeps architectonic masterpieces testifying the beauty and the imprtance of what used to be during the Middle ages, a real town-state.
At the beginning of the XIV century the Consuls Palace, today symbol of the town, was constructed together with the square Piazza Pensile and Pretorio Palace. To remind the palaces Beni, del Bargello with the famous fountain, of People Captain , in typical renaissance style, Dukes Palace by Francesco Giorgio Martini which testity the importance of the period on which the Montefeltro's family had the administration of the town.
Very interesting are also the Cathedral (XII century), St. Maria Nuova (inside which one can admire the Madonna del Belvedere painted by Ottaviano Nelli on 1413), Church and Convent of St. Agostino (XIII century ) with inside frescoes of Nelli, Church and Convent of St. Francesco (XIII century), St. Giovanni (XII century) characterised by the facade and bell tower in romanic style, St. Peter enlarged in 1505 and St. Domenico enlarged in the XIV century.

I stayed in Palazzo Balducci in Gubbio for 3 days in june 2013. A beautiful old rental with landscape Windows to the garden. The rental includes all necessary equipment for a relaxing holiday, a cosy and charming place with a fantastic history. The rental and the environment refer to an autentic Italian proporty. The host, Alfredo, is a very warm and charming elderly man who knows everything about the history of Gubbio andthe region of Umbria, and he loves to tell you all about it. In perfect english , I noticed. The rental is situated in the center of Gubbio, close to everything.
I will stay in Palazzo Balducci again next time I visit Umbria.

Gubbio is a beautiful medieval town, well worth visiting. The people are friendly, patient, and largely non-English-speaking. The restaurants are superb and real value for money. This is a real gem… More
thank you for your comments. We're very sorry that you didn't enjoy your holiday. We do say in the advert that the Balducci Palace, well noted for its historic value as a prime example of a seventeenth century building, is of National importance.
For this reason it can not be “renovated” but only preserved.
Probably not being aware of this legal, historic, architectural and cultural limitation you have considered the Palazzetto Balducci to be in poor repair.
The bathroom is very small because, for the same previous constrains, we have not been allowed to buid lt in a different place.
Maybe some communication with me, would have solved all problems with hot water only sometimes in the shower and removed the soap for disinfection, which you call mildew, from the wall - just like I took care of the heating.
Unfortunately,I was unaware that the Wi-Fi was not working properly with IPad. So I thank you for pointing this out to me and apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused you. The problem has been solved and the signal looks good.
In any case it is not clear to me the reason why you gave as overall average evaluation 1 star instead of 3.

"Very cosy and very perfectly located city apartment!"
My husband and I stayed in this perfectly cosy apartment for a week in May/June (and has been there many times before) and it really is a great place and a great city!
We don't recognize the words from the previous review from August 2. at all, other than yes, there was construction going on due to a new flat being worked on and to that we can only say: it has to be done at some point and yes it will cost a little inconvenience - it is surtenly not usual conditions of a stay in Palazzo Balducci and we can surtenly work our way around that!
Most probably the restauration of the new flat has caused more dust and some filthy covers on the couches. Maybe some communication with the very nice and very well english spoken owner, would have solved all problems - just like the water/shower problem was taken care of, I sure anything else mentioned, would have been easy to solve.
We love this place and will come back any time!

We stayed at Palazzo Balducci with our six-year-old daughter in August 2012. The location is great -- inside the city walls, convenient to shopping, restaurants and parking. Gubbio is a place with cha… More
