About the home

Villa Splendid overlooks the beautiful Lake Kournas with its many tavernas but serene atmosphere. Watch the eagles soar over the Lake, spot the turtles in their special conservation area. This villa has an uninterrupted view over the Lake, sea views, and mountain - a breathtaking vista.

If you can tear yourself away, there is a tourist train from the Lake to Georgopolis which is a popular tourist resort, this is a ten minute trip, the train also takes you to other places of interest.

The villa is newly built and has 3 double bedrooms and sleeps 6 to 8 . It also has air conditioning and a private pool. The villa is a stroll away from the taverna and a 2 minute drive or 10 minute walk to the many tavernas by the Lake.

The Crete region

The White Mountains dominate this area of sandy beaches and traditional villages. The area is becoming more developed and tourist facilities more sophisticated whilst retaining it's Greek atmosphere.

The large bay that makes up the seaside resorts of Almirida, Kalives and Kalami has many separate sandy beaches, usually with full facilities. All of these beaches are safe for children because they shelve very gently into the sea.

There are plenty of good quality, reasonably priced tavernas at or near the beaches. Kalives is a working village as well as being a tourist destination so you will find many local shops as well as a fairly big Inka supermarket. Banking, post office and petrol station facilities are available in Kalives and in Vamos.

The Georgioupoli area

The cosmopolitan town of Chania has been voted the most beautiful on Crete and rightly so, with the White Mountains as a backdrop, its Venetian harbour, museums, fascinating indoor market and an old quarter of narrow streets packed with interesting shops, Chania offers something for most visitors.

It is a vibrant lively town steeped in Byzantine, Venetian and Turkish history. The harbour area is a great place to sit and watch the world go by or you may like to try the park on Tzanakaki Street where there is a popular cafe tucked away in the trees.

Chania is easily accessible from all of our properties either by bus, taxi or car.

“Stunning views” Lovely, quiet area and the views are absolutely stunning. The villa itself has almost everything you could need. Kev and Terri are the perfect hosts and were great company too. They told us lots of good places to visit and we had a brilliant holiday here. Our group was made up of family (ages 18-48) and I would definitely go back. Personally, I would say that it would probably not be the best place for children as the pool areas are natural stone and can be quite sharp and the stairs are quite steep down to it. (Just my opinion) Although everything possible has been done to minimise risk. (Gates on pool, matting over a small area of the stone, warning signs etc) I would definitely recommend a car as there is very little within walking distance and the hills are quite steep. The tarverna up the hill (Katrina's) do fabulous authentic greek food, but down the hill the restaurants are not as good (and twice the price). There was a large bees nest in the wall by the pool which might annoy some people (didn't really bother us too much and this is something which could be dealt with - we mentioned it to Kev but told him we were ok with it) . Private parking signs on the drive would be good as very often the neighbours took this space which was annoying as the road is very narrow so you have to park further up the hill. Also, a weird running water sound in the bathroom constantly ???? Overall, this place was fantastic and the only things that would have made it absolutely perfect would have been a fridge downstairs (so you don't have to go right up to the kitchen for drinks in the day) and WIFI. (Cost us a fortune topping up the girl's mobiles !!) In Georgiopolis (8 Euros each way) the church in the sea is fascinating and the Cotton Club is well worth a visit for lunch - Lattes to die for !! If possible I would have given this a 4.5 star rather than just a 4 !!

A non-refundable deposit of 10% (minimum £50.00 per week) is required to secure your reservation. A provisional booking will be held for 24 hours so that you can arrange your flights and car hire if necessary.

Balance payments are expected 6 weeks prior to arrival.

Payment is accepted by cash or by cheque. Details will be sent in your confirmation letter.

Should you wish to make any amendments to your booking we will endeavour to fulfil your requirements but an admin charge will be made for this. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate you.
