The Puglia/Molise region

Puglia is one the most attractfull region in Italy. It combines a mixture of historical cultural heritage, beautiful traditional cusin, very fine wines, amazing natural National Park, unspoilt and ecquipped beaches. The generous hospitality of the locals and the mild and hot climate makes this region suitable for holidays either for expert travellers as well as for families. The more you travel troughout Puglia the more you will fall in love with everything you'll taste and see!

The Gargano penisula is situated in the northen part of Puglia overlooking the Adriatic sea. Peschici and his unique orientation in the "penisola garganica" allows to watch the sun rising and setting in the sea as you would be on an island. All along the coast line there many sandy beaches as well as pebbles beaches, only within 25 km it possible to access to about 20 different bays. Peschici village is part of the Gargano National Park, one the most ancient and extented forest in Europe with his 15000 sqkm in which there are over 300 recorded species of wild orchids. In just over an hour by boat, it 's possibile to reach the archipelago of the Tremiti islands which is part of the Gargano National Park and the heart of the biomarine diversity and great places for diving. Other suggested excursions are the medieval town of Vico del Gargano, about 20km from Peschici, close to the forest, with his oranges terraced gardens where you can a wonder through the small alleys. Crossing side by side the Foresta Umbra, you could have a stop over in Monte Sant'Angelo, the end of the old european pilgramage road from Santiago de Compustela.Travelling along the beautifully green coast line you'll find the main town of Vieste which has larger offer for turism and many diffrent bays with maritime pine trees growning on the edge cliffs. With about an hour travelling, it's also worth one's while to check out the WWF protected oasis of "Lago Salso",containing the biggest fauna and flora diversity in Europe being part of a main case study of the University of Oslo.
