From the owner

We rent on a weekly basis. We recommend arrival on Friday to encounter the market on Saturday morning which brings in people from all over the area, The house is on 3 levels with a roof terrace and a terrace off the main floor sitting room. There are 3 bedrooms with double beds. A crib for infants is also available. The kitchen is fully equipped and the pantry is well stocked with spices and condiments. Write to us for more pictures.

The house is a few hundred yards from la vallée de l'eure, with Roman ruins numerous hiking trails. One hundred yards in the other direction is the Place aux herbes, where there is a market twice a week and otherwise numerous places to have coffee, a meal or just a glass of wine.

Further details outdoors

There is an outdoor table and chairs on each terrace.

Parking is not supplied by us, but by the municipality. There is a covered parking Gide 300 yards from the house and a free parking lot 500 yards from the house. The town has a swimming pool and tennis courts.

Uzès has a market on Saturday and a organic market on Wednesday (150 yards from the house). The Saturday market is renowned and is both fun (music, a mime, etc.) and busy. Because of this we use Friday as a changeover day and then you can go to the market on Saturday.

Uzès is a lively medieval town, distinguished as the first Duché of France. With it's fine chateau and various towers and fortress buildings dating from the 12th century, it has been a national protected site since the 1950s. 100 yards from the Maison Foussat is the huge "Place aux Herbes" with outdoor cafés and a huge market each Saturday, as well as a smaller organic market on Wednesdays. The town is full of shops and restaurants; there are a number of banks, a bus station, and a cinema. Uzès is also the home to several summer festivals, including a modern dance festival and several types of music.

Uzès is surrounded by picturesque towns and villages, each with it's own character. St. Quentin la Poterie, a village 3 km away is known internationally for it's pottery studios and pottery museum. A 15 minute drive brings you to the Pont du Gard - a world heritage site. It is an enormous bridge - part of a Roman aqueduct that carried water from the springs in Uzès to Nimes. Both Avignon with the Palais des Papes and a fantastic summer festival, and Nimes with it's superb Colleseum are within a 45 minute drive. Arles, the town of Van Gogh, Orange with the Arausio - an intact Roman Theater, the Camargue with its famous "chevaux blancs", the beaches of Montpellier, the Luberon, and the Cevennes are all just an hour or so away. Also nearby is the beautiful gorge of the Ardèche,.

There is wonderful bathing in the Cèze or in the Gardon at the Pont du Gard. Kayaks and canoes are available at the Cèze and the Gardon; longer rafting trips take place on the Ardèche. The country roads are perfect for bicycling, and are small country lanes and paths for walking.
