Home description
Le Hambout is in the small village of St Andre des Eaux 5 minutes from the town of Evran set on a river with a lock. There's a picturesque lake 5 minutes away which is perfect for a stroll. The area is peaceful and the property is set off of a grass track. Le Hambout is 10 minute drive from the historic walled city of Dinan with many restaurants, pavement cafes and a marina where you can enjoy a glass of wine while watching the boats. Forty minutes from the property is the beautiful port town of St Malo with it's tremendous wartime history and scene of many prestigious sailboat races. Also the same distance away is the awesome Mont Saint Michel which everyone should visit in their lifetime.Between the 2 are a host of sandy beaches and seaside towns such as Cancale where you can spend a day walking in the harbour and enjoying fresh seafood in the many seafront diners.

The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region
The superb coastline of St Cast, St Jacut Sur Mer and Pleneuf Val Andre are within 30-40 minutes drive and have clean, sandy beaches and watersport centres .
The beautiful town of Dinan is 15 minutes away from Le Hambout. DInan boasts many restaurants and pavement cafes as well as the old port of Dinan where you can enjoy the view of yachts in the marina.
There are many good golf courses within an hours drive including the world class Val Andre 18 hole course. And there are several equestrian centres nearby and riding lessons can be booked.
Also in the area for the whole family there is a go kart track, animal sanctuaries such as Le Bourbansais and the zoo at Champrepus, many cider making centres, the Grand Aquarium in St Malo and the old chateau at Dinan. For children there are the funparks of COBAC Parc and FestyLand
For avid shoppers there are traditional markets like Dinan on a Thursday morning and Dinard on Saturday morning.
Finally, during the Summer months there are many superb 'fetes' such as the famous Medieval Fete des Remparts in Dinan during July.
Evran / St Andre Des Eaux area
The village of St Andre des Eaux is a retreat even by the standards of rural Brittany. It has a small church and a good bar and restaurant called L'Eprouvette which has a compact menu featuring crepes, steak and frites all of which are tasty. The nearest town is Evran which is set on the river Rance. There's also a canal with a picturesque lock seen as you drive over the bridge into the town. Near Evran is the beautiful gardens of the Chateau de Hac - with a mediaeval Knot Garden and Renaissance walk. There's also the cider maker Ollivier Christophe La ferme de la Rebroussais and in nearby Lehon there is a beer festival.
How to get there
Dinard/Pleurtuit/St Malo airport is served by regular Ryanair lowcost flights from East Midlands and Stansted. The drive from the airport to Le Hambout takes 20-30 minutes. Alternatively FlyBE have regular lowcost flights from Southampton,Edinburgh, Manchester and Exeter to Rennes. The drive from Rennes is between 35 and 45 minutes.The drive from the ferry Terminal at St Malo is around 35-45 minutes.

Further details indoors: Inside the house is classically French with a large woodburning fireplace, tile and wood floors and exposed beams giving it a traditional and warm atmosphere. Note that the TV in the living room works only for DVD's and videos. Upstairs the Master bedroom has a wooden floor, double bed, wooden beams and shuttered windows which open onto a soul warming view of a hazy morning as well as a comfortable second double bedroom.The bathroom has been recently renovated in white with a modern hot shower and wooden floor. The kitchen has recently been re-decorated with new units and is comfortable to cook in.
Further details outdoors: The enclosed garden at the back of the house is a perfect place to enjoy a glass of local cider and enjoy the view of trees and surrounding countryside. For children there's a tree to climb and an acre of space to run around in with no traffic to worry about. There's a field next door where the owner keeps and trains horses.
Conditions
A refundable cleaning and breakages deposit of £100 /Euros 150 is required. This would be in the form of a separate cheque which would be sent along with the one for the rental amount. This cheque would be returned(subject to satisfactory property inspection) or deposited by us only if needed.
