"Kitty's Cottage was Absolutely Perfect!"

I'll apologize in advance for the length of this review, however our recent stay at "Kitty's Cottage" was absolutely perfect and I want to provide a thorough summary for future visitors lucky enough to reserve a booking! Our family of four (including two young adults), had plenty of room in the fabulous three (3) bedroom / three (3) bath “cottage”, which we made our home for a week as we took day trips to explore County Galway and the Connemara region of Ireland – it was our first visit to Ireland and owner Kathleen Griggs has certainly set a very high standard as far as expectations for subsequent visits.
The numerous amenities of the home included a very efficient and practical kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, frig, freezer, oven/stove, lots of cupboard and counter space), a lovely sitting room with fireplace and hardwood floors, and a roomy dining area (with beautiful slate tile flooring and second fireplace). Kathleen has a wonderful eye for decorating and the rooms were beautifully appointed with comfortable furniture, interesting artwork and lovely antiques. The bedrooms were cozy (two upstairs/one downstairs) and the attached baths (all with showers) were so convenient for our family.
The private back yard has lovely gardens which were very picturesque during our springtime visit. There was a wonderful marriage of relaxed elegance and easy “country” comfort between the lovely home, gardens, and presence of hens/rooster and the neighboring sheep and horses. It was such a comfort knowing that Kathleen (owner) was literally right next door. She made us feel so welcome, even before we arrived, and while she was more than respectful of our privacy, she made herself available to answer our many questions about the area, make recommendations for places to visit/eat, and kindly shared some of her delicious baked goods and fresh eggs!
We loved having a place to call “home” that was within an easy walk to the village of Oughterard – shops, pubs, grocers, bank, post office, visitor center and churches were easily accessible. We enjoyed the natural and pristine beauty of nearby Lake Corrib (recommend “Corrib Cruises”), as well as easy day trips to the Aran Islands, Cliffs of Mohr, seaside village of Roundstone, Kylemore Abbey, Aughnanure Castle ruins, Connemara Candles, Connemara Marble factory and showroom and Galway City.
If given the opportunity to again travel to Ireland (and I hope I do!), I would most definitely try to book “Kitty's Cottage” and would highly recommend it to family and friends travelling in that area.

"just perfect"

We had a wonderful week here, the cottage was spotless, spacious, well equipped, and in a lovely and peaceful garden setting with wonderful views. The very friendly welcome included a log fire and a bunch of flowers!
Centrally located for touring this wonderful area, and a pleasant walk to the village for all the amenities, it suited us down to the ground. Would love to go again sometime!
