About the home

Our apartment is located on the second floor of a small, high-quality residence with two swimming pools and a tennis court. The apartment includes a gated parking space (a must in Collioure in the summer!) The Residence backs onto a beautiful hillside, terraced with ancient stone walls, and topped by a historic windmill and a castle, to which you can hike. The location assures peace and quiet, yet you are only a 2 minute walk from the beach, and the shops and restaurants of lively Old Town Collioure. We have furnished the apartment with tasteful, quality furnishings. The newly remodeled one bedroom has a king-sized bed; the living room has a double-sized sofa bed; balcony with table and chairs to enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon aperitif; and a separate fully equipped and updated kitchen. There is television with European satellite and French TNT cable programming; a stereo/CD player with iPod dock; DVD player; and a washing machine. A portable baby crib/cot available free of charge upon request. Free WiFi access is available in the common game room.

The Residence is a lovely, small, 3-story facility that is of high quality construction, and although modern, incorporates local stone into the exterior. There are two swimming pools open in season, one of them a children's pool. There is also a full-sized, nicely equipped tennis court for your use (tennis raquets and balls available in apartment.) The Residence backs up to open countryside and, on one side, a vineyard. There are numerous hiking trails leading from the back of the complex up into the hills surrounding Collioure. There is a gated parking area for your car. You will receive the remote entry device with the key to the apartment.

Collioure Bay

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Pyrenees-Orientales region

Languedoc Roussillon is the southern-most department in France, bordering the Mediterranean Sea to the east, and Spain to the south. The cities of Nimes, Montpellier, Carcassonne and Perpignan are located there. The region is the sunniest and warmest in France, with over 300 days of sun per year. Compared to its neighbors to the north, Provence and the Cote d'Azur, the region is relatively undiscovered, with less overcrowding and commercialism. The area is renowned for dramatic landscapes, including mountains, gorges, and broad, white sand beaches. The area is very popular with walkers, and is full of interesting hiking trails of various levels of difficulty. Close to Collioure is the land of an ancient sect called Cathars, which contructed impressive fortresses on mountaintops of the region for defense. The area is also renowned for wines, and Collioure has its own appellation with some excellent reds. Neighboring Banyuls is famous for its sweet wine.

The Collioure area

Collioure is a charming fishing port with pastel-coloured houses, a royal castle, and an ancient church encircling a lovely bay. It is only about 20 kilometers from the Spanish border, which can be easily reached via a dramatic coastal road affording beautiful views. It was a gathering place for Fauvist painters in the early 20th century; Matisse, Braque and Derain painted many famous canvases here. There are five small beaches in Collioure with clean, calm water, excellent for children. If you are looking for long stretches of white sand, you can head to neighboring Argeles-Plage for the day, just 3 kilometers to the north. There is a huge range of easy daytrips from Collioure, including visits to Cathar castles, Romanesque abbeys and lovely historic towns such as Perpignan and Ceret. Day trips to Spain, including to the famous Dali Museum in Figueras, are also easy. From Collioure there are boat trips along the coast and a scuba diving centre.

“Excellent Apartment” We stayed in this lovely apartment in October 2011 for a week. The booking procedure, communication, etc was excellent & the lady who met us with the key was an absolute treasure, very friendly, helpful & prompt. We flew into Bezier airport, which was again axcellent, picked up our hire car & drove to the apartment, the journey took about 80 minutes. [On the way back we ate our picnic on the banks of the canl du midi!] The apartment is excellent, clean & tidy, with everything you need, including condiments, tea, coffee, etc. We sat out on the balcony everyday & ate our meals, read & chilled. Having stayed in a number of rentals, the bed here was excellent. It is only a five minute walk to the beach & a further five minutes to the town centre, all of which is on the flat for those with mobility difficulties. There are more than adequate parking spaces, which is an absolute must, parking must be hell in the summer. We walked everyday, up to the windmill & castle, etc. We used the brilliant one euro bus to get about & ventured further afield into the pyrenees & the train jaune. An excellent apartment, so much so that I intend to visit again. Response: We are very pleased to know you enjoyed your stay. “Lovely apartment in central location ,literally minutes to public transport and beach” This was a lovely aprrment ,most comfortable with everything you could wish for in terms of home comfort. A small balcony faced up to the hill behind and whist it didn't get the sun ,it was pleasant for sitting out to eat,read or just contemplate. Friendly people in neighbouring apartments,and the local agent was so helpful Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay! We thank you for your rental and welcome you back any time.

“A very comfortable and well-equipped apartment” The apartment is very nicely and comfortably furnished, and very clean. The location is superb - easy walking distance to the shops and the beach yet away from the hustle and bustle of the lively village. Kristina was very efficient and always prompt in answering any questions we had. It truly was a pleasure communicating with her. We had a most enjoyable stay in her apartment and in Collioure. An ideal apartment and a great time! The flat had everything we needed and was very comfortable and clean. We were able to sit on the balcony and watch the birds and even had the pleasure of the donkeys passing by several times. -- Miss T, Scotland.
