The Languedoc-Roussillon region
Often referred to as the “Jewel of the Cote Vermeille”, Collioure is situated in the very south of France about 30 km from the Spanish border where the Pyrenees Mountains reach down to touch the Mediterranean Sea. This historic little village is one of the sunniest in all of France, boasting more than 300 days of sunshine annually. It is a vibrant town that dates back centuries and preserves much of its Catalan roots through its food, art and culture.
Collioure preserves its heritage and sense of community well. Start your day with a cup of steaming java at a neighbourhood café accompanied by a traditional fresh baguette. Spend your Wednesday or Sunday morning at the downtown market meandering amongst the stalls of fresh fruits and vegetables, exotic meats, fragrant cheeses and colourful Catalan crafts. Walk around the ancient streets of the old town, and admire the historical architecture. Visit with local artisans around every nook and cranny. End your day at a seaside bar sipping one of the many Collioure vintages, feasting on the local cuisine while listening to the enchanting melodies from local street musicians, as the sun sets dramatically over the Mediterranean at your feet.

Collouire is a beautiful little town and Chateau de la Rocasse is at its heart down on the harbor. The accomodation is in a renovated historical building. Tastefully decorated and very comfortable with all the conveniences of home. It's one of those places you don't want to leave and after four nights we felt we could have stayed longer. We travel a lot and Collouire itself is a precious little jewel with views from the harbor you will long remember. You must visit if in this part of France and Chateau de la Rocasse is the perfect place to unwind and explore the area during your stay.

"Wonderful stay by the Sea!"
Wake each morning to the sun coming up over the sea. Sit in the front courtyard with coffee and watch the waves. Walk around the historic church to a sandy beach or hike through vineyards to historic forts with panoramic views. No wonder Matisse and so many loved this beautiful natural port. The food, shopping, wine, sites and the apartment are all superb. Thanks to the Gervais'

"Lovely apartment in a fabulous location."
We really enjoyed our stay in this well maintained apartment which is in pretty much the most perfect position in Collioure that you could wish for; by the sea (50 metres from the port beach), 20 metres from the nearest restaurants and only 100 metres or so from the centre. Despite that it is quite quiet. A perfect base for exploring this jewel of a town and the beautiful countryside around it. We swam in the sea each morning before breakfast and each evening before walking to dinner. Fabulous! On top of that the owners are extremely responsive and very helpful; booking was a very easy and pleasant experience. The only slight downsides are that you cannot park close by to drop off your cases (though you can to pick them up in the morning) and that the second bedroom has no windows to the outside, but neither worried us unduly and the upsides more than compensated. We look forward to being able to visit again one day and thoroughly recommend it to others.

"A Gem in the South of France"
Our family of 4 was heading through the south of France on our way to Barcelona. As we planned our route, we quite accidentally discovered Collioure! Everything went very smoothly with Kim from the beginning. She is fast to communicate with all the necessary information and answered all of our questions. The apartment is in a fabulous location - just steps to the beautiful Mediterranean. We could hear the waves coming into the shore in the evening...just loved it! Everything at the flat was ready to go the moment we arrived in the early afternoon. The beds were clean and comfortable, the family room well prepared for a relaxing evening or rainy day with DVDs and books, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to get started. There were also lovely personal touches which really added to our feeling of being relaxed and comfortable. Kim provided a binder with detailed information and recommendations for the town and surrounding area. It was very helpful in planning our stay and making the most of our holiday. In town we visited: The Church of Notre Dame des Anges (right outside the front door!), Collioure’s Royal Castle, and the Collioure Anchovie Factory. We also took the short walk up to the Moulin, and then made our way to the top of the hill to the Fortress of Saint Elme where we were rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the town and surrounding area. We also took the short 1-hour drive to Carcassonne to visit the medieval town and castle there, and were amazed at the quality of the conservation of the various sites…another recommendation from Kim! Overall, our stay in Collioure was amazing! We really want to thank Kim and Denis for providing us with a place that is in a great location, a beautiful and comfortable space and a real feeling of being at home while on the road! We would definitely go back again!

"APPARTEMENT IDEALEMENT SITUE"

Amazing location in the beautiful town of Collioure. The owner was great to deal with, both with booking and troubleshooting. The apartment, on the doorstep of the Mediterranean, was well appointed and close to all facilities in the town. An amazing town to explore, and also a great base for exploring the wider area.

"Wow - what an experience!"
Spending some time in the south of France was a dream come true. The apartment in Collioure was perfect! It was spacious and comfortable and Kim and Denis have thought of everything that you need while away from home. We loved being steps from the sea. In the summer, this apartment will be a fabulous place to stay with its beach access. It was so enjoyable to walk along the breakwater by St Vincent’s Chapel and admire the lovely views. Restaurants, galleries and shops were all within easy walking distance. There was a local market open on Wednesday which was great for fresh items, and also a local supermarket nearby. Kim and Denis were very helpful and responded quickly to all our requests for information. They gave us lots of tips that made our stay in Collioure a truly memorable one. Can't wait to go back for a longer stay!
