The Loire Valley / Indre-et-Loire region
The Loire valley offers great diversity, stemming from the wealth of history and culture synonymous with the region, which can be seen in the numerous châteaux on the banks of the two main rivers (Loire and Cher). The countryside is lush and green with opportunities for birdwatching near the sand-banks and islands on the rivers Loir and Loire. Guided boat trips are available. Chinon area
Le Bois du Chillou is ideally situated to visit the famous Loire castles, or the beautiful towns of Chinon, Tours, Amboise and Richelieu. Alternatively, you can just relax and explore the surrounding countryside!
The nearest village to the property is Marcay, just 5 minutes away, which has 1 pub but no shops. The nearest restaurant is Chateaux de Marcay, also 5 minutes away. The nearest supermarket is less than 3 kilometres away and there are multiple restaurants in the vicinity of Le Bois du Chillou. Also there are three 18-hole golf courses situated within a 25 km radius.
Fifteen minutes away by car is the famous medieval village of Chinon, typical of the Loire valley region, which has plenty of options for shopping, dining, or just sitting and watching the world go by!
How to get there
Fly to Tours airport, just 45 minutes from the property. Renting a car in Tours is easy and a good option.
Alternatively, if you are travelling within France or continental Europe, you can travel by TGV (high-speed train) to Tours, and then catch a connecting train on to Chinon. Then 10 min. by taxi to le Bois du Chillou
If you choose to come by car, the property is 30 minutes from a main road (A10).
