A hidden gem in the midst of Maison du Ruisseau. Maison du Jardin is the largest of the three gites set in the front courtyard of the complex overlooking the orchard. The look of surprise from clients is a joy when shown this property. It has three double bedrooms, two bathrooms and separate w/c. The attractive coloured beams and open plan living area incorporates the sitting room, dining and kitchen area with the staircase to the upstairs mezzanine twin bedroom. The gite has under-floor central heating throughout. Sky freeview CD & DVD. The kitchen is fully equipped to include electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine/tumble dryer. The main double bedroom is decorated to ensure that comfort and style are priority. With a leather bed and drapes, plenty of storage to include walk-in wardrobe and large en-suite facilities. The second double bedroom comprises of twin beds, light oak furniture with a large built in wardrobe This, and the second bathroom with bath/shower and wc, is a recent addition to Maison du Jardin and completely enhances the existing property. It benifits from a safe private terrace ideal for families or those wanting privacy.

The gite has under-floor central heating. Sky freeview CD & DVD. The kitchen is fully equipped to include electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine/tumble dryer. The main double bedroom (18sq.m) is decorated to ensure that comfort and style are priority. The second double bedroom (12sq.m) comprises twin beds (convertible to double), light oak furniture with a large built in wardrobe. This, and the second bathroom with bath/shower and wc, is a recent addition to Maison du Jardin.

Maison du Ruisseau and Maison du Jardin are surrounded by a beautiful stone wall for your privacy. It contains a very pretty cottage garden which is also completely private, but benefits from an orchard and field overlooking the countryside. The swimming pool to the rear of the property is accessed through large gates and up five steps.The property is not suitable for those with wheelchairs. Sorry no dogs as the owners have two cats.
The gites have their own parking area.The property is provided with patio tables and chairs for all the gites; they are located on the terrace and in the garden to ensure sun all day and early evening, so its ideal for eating breakfast, lunch and dinner outside. Sun loungers and umbrellas are also provided for the garden and the pool area. Each of the gites is equipped with a barbecue and tools for alfresco dining.
Our gite is family friendly with open plan living and gated access from the house to the garden. A welcome pack is included on arrival to include basic produce for your first night and breakfast the following morning. All towels, bed linen, tea towels and pool towels are provided free of charge . Access to Internet is provided by site-wide WiFi. Should you wish to have a mid-stay clean please let us know and we can provide further details. Bikes are available and table tennis, with an area for ball games. Our gites are fully central heated and are strictly non-smoking. The pool is open from May to October. The pool is not heated and is shared between the three properties. It is fitted with a safety alarm in accordance with French law.
Prices shown are per property per week. Changeover day is Saturday. Arrival time is 4.00pm, departure time is 10.00am. Rental charges are totally inclusive of all outgoings.

Refundable breakages deposit of £200 required with the final balance of payment, to be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).A deposit of 25% is to be sent with the completed booking form in order to confirm a booking.The balance of 75% is to be paid 8 weeks before the start of the holiday.
A 40 euro cleaning fee is charged on your departure.
The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente region
The Charente is a beautiful unspoilt area of France. Set in the heart of the Cognac vineyard region it is an excellent location to access many of the local towns and surrounding areas. The landscape is rich and varied with acres of sunflowers and vines. The climate is temperate and comfortable with an average temperature of around 25° but often reaching over 30°. We are ideally situated for visiting many of the regional activities of the area. Cognac is a 30 minute drive where you can visit many world famous distilleries. Or if you prefer, the picturesque vineyards of St Emillion are a pleasant hours drive away. Our nearest city is Angouleme inhabited from the year 600 and is the capital of the Charente. It is known as the "City of Festivals" set high above the old city walls with views for miles around. The festivals begin in January with the cartoon/comic strip event, the “Musique Metisses” in May, the classic car race and rallye, “Circuit des Remparts” in September and the piano festival, “Piano en Valois” in October just to mention a few. It is a lively and still very much "French" town with an abundance of excellent bars and restaurants for your pleasure.
The Chateauneuf-sur-Charente area
Chateauneuf sur Charente is our closest town built in the plains and hills bordering the Charente with 3500 inhabitants. On market days Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays it is a place where people gather to sit and catch up in the local bars and cafes whilst leisurely shopping. There are two large supermarkets, three banks, chemists, bars, restaurants, doctors and a hospital. In the opposite direction is the town of Barbezieux St Hilaire which is larger than Chateauneuf with more restaurants a larger market and a hospital with an emergency department. Jonzac is just 15 minutes drive away where there is a large leisure complex with indoor and outdoor swimming, gym, solarium and spa. This pretty village has a market on Fridays and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to explore.

A car is essential. The area is well served by low cost airlines: Ryan Air Limoges and Poitiers, La Rochelle and Bergerac ; Flybe serve Limoges, La Rochelle and Bergerac; Easyjet serves Bordeaux and La Rochelle and Aer Lingus serves Bordeaux. Maison du Ruisseau is well situated for many of the local airports and if travelling by car from St Malo or Ouistreham the excellent standard of roads makes your drive a pleasure. The channel ports are also very accessible. Car hire is available from Bordeaux, Limoges and Poitiers Airports and also from Angouleme rail station. Hertz, Europcar and Avis are all recommended companies.
