Hotel apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 7
Metohi Georgila is a quiet resting place, built in 1908 by Dr Styliano Georgila, a personal friend of Eleftherios Venizelos. This House was not only a home, but also a shelter of hospitality for his friends and family.
Years later… wanting to continue the warmth and the generous Cretan hospitality, which by the way our family kept for the last three generations, we reconstructed the building and we created the residence. Our inspiration wasn't the need of a business, but the joy of offering and charring.
Metohi Georgila is located at Pyrgos Psilonerou, 15,5 klm from the central city of Chania. It's only 1,5 klm away from the magnificent sandy beach, 1,5 klm from the market center of Maleme village and 4,5 klm away from the recreational and market center of Platanias village.
The unique natural surroundings and the peaceful family atmosphere will give you the possibility to enjoy moments of relaxation away from the touristic action, but very close to the most beautiful beaches of our county.

The Crete region
Crete is the largest and most populous of the Greek islands and the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.
The island has a number of gorges such as the famous gorge of Samaria, the Imbros Gorge, the Kourtaliotiko Gorge, the Ha Gorge, the Platania Gorge, the Gorge of the Dead(at Kato Zakros, Sitia) and the Richtis Gorge and Waterfall at Exo Mouliana in Sitia
The rivers of Crete include the Leropotamos River, the Koiliaris, the Anapodiaris, the Almiros, and Megas Potamos. There are only two freshwater lakes including Lake Kournas and Lake Agia which are both in Chania prefecture.Lake Voulismeni at the coast, at Aghios Nikolaos, was formerly a sweetwater lake but is now connected to the sea, in Lasithi
Crete straddles two climatic zones, the Mediterranean and the North African, mainly falling within the former. As such, the climate in Crete is primarily temperate. The atmosphere can be quite humid, depending on the proximity to the sea, while winter is fairly mild. Snowfall is common on the mountains between November and May, but rare in the low lying areas. While mountain tops remain snow-capped year long, near the coast snow only stays on the ground for a few minutes or hours. However, a truly exceptional cold snap swept the island in February 2004, during which period the whole island was blanketed with snow. During the Cretan summer, average temperatures reach the high 20s-low 30s Celsius (mid 80s to mid 90s Fahrenheit), with maxima touching the upper 30s-mid 40s (above 110 °F / 43.3 °C).
The south coast, including the Mesara Plain and Asterousia Mountains, falls in the North African climatic zone, and thus enjoys significantly more sunny days and high temperatures throughout the year. There, date palms bear fruit, and swallows remain year-round rather than migrate to Africa. The fertile region around Ierapetra, on the southeastern corner of the island, is renowned for its exceptional year-round agricultural production, with all kinds of summer vegetables and fruit produced in greenhouses throughout the winter.
Crete is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Greece. Fifteen percent of all arrivals in Greece come through the city of Heraklion (port and airport), while charter journeys to Heraklion last year made up 20% of all charter flights in Greece. Overall, more than two million tourists visited Crete last year,[when?] and this increase in tourism is reflected on the number of hotel beds, rising by 53% in the period between 1986 and 1991, when the rest of Greece saw increases of only 25%. Today, the island's tourism infrastructure caters to all tastes, including a very wide range of accommodation; the island's facilities take in large luxury hotels with their complete facilities, swimming pools, sports and recreation, smaller family-owned apartments, camping facilities and others. Visitors reach the island via two international airports in Heraklion and Chania, or by boat to the main ports of Heraklion, Chania, Rethimno and Agios Nikolaos. Popular tourist attractions include the archaeological sites of the Minoan civilisation, the Venetian old city and port of Chania, the Venetian castle at Rethymno, the gorge of Samaria, the islands of Chrysi, Elafonisi, Gramvousa, and Spinalonga and the Palm Beach of Vai, which is the largest natural palm forest in Europe.
There are a large number of archaeological sites which include the Minoan sites of Knossos and Phaistos, the classical site of Gortys, and the diverse archaeology of the island of Koufonisi which includes Minoan, Roman, and World War II ruins.
There are a number of museums throughout Crete. The Heraklion Archaeological Museum displays most of the archaeological finds of the Minoan era
Metohi Georgla is located 16 klm west of the city of Chania, 4,5 klm from the touristic village of Platanias, 1,5 klm from historical Maleme, 23 klm from the port of Souda and 33 klm from Chania airport.
The bus station is 1400 m. away from Metohi Georgila and it is a very pleasant walk throughout the village.
For food, shopping and night life, there are plenty of options in Platanias and in the city of Chania. Not far away from Metohi, at Maleme and Gerani, you can find Pharmacy, Super Markets and gas stations.
Beside the beach of our village, in which you can walk your way in 10’, you can drive 5’ – 10’ to reach the famous and crowded beaches of Platanias, Agia Marina and Stalos or the quiet beaches of Maleme, Tavronitis and Kolymvari.
A little bit further, at the west coast, the beaches are truly amazing. Falasarna were voted in 2002 as the most beautiful beach of Greece. The view to the beach of Balos is stunning. Another amazing beach is the one at Elafonisi with the unique pink and white sand.
In the south coast you can find the superb and famous beaches of Sougia, Paliohora, Sfakia and Agia Roumeli as well as the magical Kedrodasos, located west of Elafonisi.
The old town of Chania is a ...museum, built on the ruins of ancient Kydonia. Historical artifacts of the city, date from the 2nd an 3rd millennium B.C. All the other part of the city is a clear influence of all the nations that passed throughout time. You can see Roman, Byzantine, Arabic, Venetian and Turkish monuments. There are also interesting museums, temples and other sights to see, for which we will be able to inform you, if you want to visit them.
