Famagusta
Just 25km from Bogaz you'll find Famagusta, the old Venetian walled city with its famous Othello Tower. Today, Famagusta is a bustling town, an ideal base for exploring the east side of North Cyprus without leaving the comforts of town living behind.
Salamis
10 minutes drive along the coatal dual carriageway lies the ancient Roman ruins of Salamis offering a great day out strolling through amphitheatures, market squares and villa's
Karpas
The best part of a holiday in Bogaz or Famagusta is that the delights of the Karpas Peninsula are just a few miles' drive away. The Karpaz is a panhandle of land jutting into the sea, with lush green fields of tobacco, vineyards and groves of olive and carob trees. Keep heading east, and it changes into a spectacular rocky landscape where the grumpy Cyprus wild donkey is king, sharing the land with migratory birds, nesting sea turtles and a huge variety of native wildlife.
You are also close to some of the finest beaches in North Cyprus, and none of them will be even remotely crowded - the Karpas Peninsula has over 45 sandy beaches to explore! Unspoilt Bafra Beach is right on your doorstep at Bogaz, with no hotels or beachfront houses to disturb your day of sunbathing and total relaxation. At Famagusta, Glapsides Public Beach is popular with families, where youngsters can paddle safely in the shallow waters.
Head into the Karpas Peninsula to discover secluded rocky coves that can be yours for the day, or the wide sands of glorious Golden Beach. Backed by romantic sand dunes, chances are you'll be the only family on your stretch of this enormous sandy beach, unless you count the sea turtles laying their eggs in the sand!
Coast/Beach
There are several beaches within the Famagusta Bay area. The site does have an extended basic beach for quite walks and a lovely hidden sandy cove perfect for children. Bafra beach favoured by many locals is a 9km away and if you travel a little further to the Karpass there are miles and miles of golden sandy beaches - many completely destered of holiday hoardes.
Golf
A fabulous 18 hole golf course is located in Esentepe, which is a gentle 30 minutes drive away along coastal road. Ice skating and go cart racing available in Famagusta. Lots of local places of intrest nearby - Salamis ruins, Kantara castle with stunning views and picknic / BBQ / childrens play area nearby. Boat trips, Scuba diving, paragliding all available nearby.
Special interest holidays
Scuba diving is available in Bogaz. Bicycles are available for hire. Roman ruins at Salamis are within 20 mins drive.
Travel
Flights are either to Larnaca in the South necessitating border crossing and additional travelling time of roughly an hour. Taxis can be arranged for direct and simple transfer for an additional cost of about £50. Alternatively flights to Ercan in the North with a stopover in Turkey are available from most UK airports. Car hire can be arranged from Airport - journey time to Sunrise Beach Club is approximately 45 mins on quiet dual carriageway.
Further details
It is now easy to cross the border between North and South Cyprus but cars hired in the North are not allowed to cross the border and vice versa. Several restaurants located nearby and there is a modern supermarket approximately 10 minutes drive away.
The Bogaz area
Bogaz is a little fishing village with some restaurants dotted around its picturesque harbour. It also has some lovely patches of beach surrounding the village and is a great place to explore Northern Cyprus from.
There are many history surrounding Bogaz with the village being just five minutes from Strongylos Castle, a Byzantine watchtower with links to the Knights Templar. Venture into the Karpaz Peninsula, and you are going back even further in time. Here, prehistoric peoples built villages on the rocky peninsula long before the Byzantines added their elegant churches, now atmospheric ruins that you almost stumble across on your way down to a beach. Head to the far end of the Karpaz Peninsula to discover the Apostolos Andreas Monastery, where St Andrew arrived on North Cyprus and created a fresh water spring, said to have healing properties.
Bogaz bars and restaurants are busy with locals and tourists alike, and the supermarket has everything you'll need. If you prefer not to cook, try one of the excellent fish restaurants on the harbour such as the Bogaz Garden. Visit Kemalin Yeri for a traditional Turkish Cypriot lunch or The Moon for unbeatable Sunday roasts with the ex-pats!
If you want an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, stunning beaches and wonderful scenery then Northern Cyprus is definitely for you.

Well maintained villa in lovely surroundings. We stayed at Sunrise Beach Club in July/Aug with another family and had a lovely time. Tony, the owner was very helpful in advice and recommendations before stayed there. Lots to do and see if you want to see the island but it was so hot and with small children we often just lounged about in the cool air conditioned villa and by the pool! Famagusta is worth a visit as well as Kyrenia on the north of the island. Would recommend to families |

We stayed in this villa late May/early June and had a fantastic time. The villa is absolutely beautiful and spacious and the complex is very well maintained with great swimming pools. Great for the children and adults alike! The cafe on the site was very good too with a good choice of meals and friendly service. The on site management are always on hand to help as well. The views from the villa were fantastic. The sea on one side and the pools the other. Great location for exploring Northern Cyprus and a well stocked supermarket a few minutes away. Tony the owner was extremely helpful (and patient!) with my many questions before going to the villa so thank you Tony. Would highly recommend this villa and location to anyone. |

Well maintained Villa overlooking the Pools on one side and the Beach on the other and situated on a great site. All you need for staying in the Villa is provided and the site has three great Pools and the on site Cafe/Bar has a good choice of food and drink. Catering seems to be geared to English tastes but does have local dishes as well, everything we had there was very tasty and well presented. Good value too. When we were there in late May the site was pretty quiet, ideal for a relaxing break. Probably gets busier in the Peak Season but that's just what you would expect. Site Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Bogaz village is just down the road and has a variety of facilities including Restaurants and a decent Supermarket. We toured most of the TRNC and the location of the Villa is ideal for this. The owner was very helpful, you won't have any problems at all dealing with him and you can trust him to get your holiday going, thanks Tony ! If you want an Ayia Napa night club all go lively type holiday then Northern Cyprus is not for you but if you want a relaxing family holiday in a a nice roomy Villa with everything provided on a nice site you need look no further than here. Highly Recommended. |

Notes on prices
I've tried hard to keep prices as low as possible and keep them inclusive of fair usage electric and water, based on 6 persons sharing (additional persons are charged at a rate of £50/ week each). Readings of electric and water meter are taken on arrival and a generous allowance of £50 per week which is perfectly adequate in any season, is allowed for in the pricing structure. Usage above this level will be open to scrutiny and change by mutual agreement. Additionally it is the responsibility of the renter to ensure all cleaning / laundry is completed at the end of the letting.
