The Lounge - Some French would argue that the kitchen is the heart of a French house for others its the living room or the sejour. Our living room has an open fire and a large fireplace. We have retained the original beams and this together with the curtains and the shutters at night adds to a warm and comfortable environment.
There is a three piece suite and a range of coffee tables to help you enjoy that evening glass of wine. In one corner is a writing bureau beside the Livebox where you can access the phone or the broadband or both. In another corner is the large dining table and two wooden settles that makes for a fun family dining experience.
There is a CD player, DVD, video and the TV offers over 1,000 channels but most importantly the main English Channels of BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. If you are technical and want to know exactly what channels you will be able to watch the satellite is aimed at Astra 2. French TV is also available. We have also left a full range of children’s and adult videos and books for you to enjoy.
The Kitchen - We love cooking and thus have ensured that the kitchen is fully equipped to meet all your requirements to cook up that perfect French meal, or a frozen microwaved dinner if you prefer. The kitchen is fully equipped for your holiday with all the necessary cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and cooking utensils. There is a modern four ring electric cooker, a free standing fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer and microwave. Coupled with the rather ancient but working cassette player in the corner it makes for a very pleasant French cooking experience. There is an excellent Hypermarket no more that 5 minutes drive from the house on the main road to Tours and also a typical French market in the village every Wednesday and Saturday. There are two Boulangeries in the village as well as butchers, cake shops and delicatessens. Even English newspapers are available at the Newsagents
The Bedrooms -
There are 3 bedrooms in the house. All have exposed beams, curtains and mats on the recently tiled floors. There are extensive plugs throughout as well as a bedside lamp beside every bed. The bedding includes mattress covers as well as duvets and bedspreads. Our linen pack includes 2 sheets and pillowcases.
All furniture is pine and all bedrooms have double glazing as well as external shutters.

The lower garden level is an enclosed gravel courtyard. The higher garden level, accessed via steps and a gate, has a private enclosed swimming pool (8m x 4m, depth 1.2m) surrounded by high walls on two sides and with security fencing on other sides, providing a real sun-trap for sunbathing and relaxing.
External table and chairs, sun umbrellas and sun loungers.
About this location
The Loire Valley region
The lake with sailing school at Joué-les-Tours is a 15 minute drive. See the famous ‘Sleeping Beauty’ château at Ussé and amazing terraced gardens of Villandry, both a 15 minute drive. Stroll in the medieval streets of Tours with its range of shops, or enjoy a relaxing short river cruise on the Loire, 35 minutes’ drive. Within one hour’s drive of other famous Loire châteaux, such as Chenonceaux and Amboise.
Azay-le-Rideau is a beautiful and typical French village which is around 10 minutes’ walk along a level and very quiet road with a footpath.
Whilst dominated by the beautiful Chateau, the village is very lively and vibrant. There is a wide and varied selection of high quality restaurants and more traditional French cafés to suit all tastes and budgets. There is a large variety of shops from Pharmacies to souvenir shops and wine merchants.
However Azay-le- Rideau is not just a tourist venue but also a working town and that means there is the range of genuine French shops. There is an excellent Hypermarket no more that 5 minutes drive from the house on the main road to Tours and also a typical French market in the village every Wednesday and Saturday. There are two Boulangeries in the village as well as butchers, cake shops and delicatessens. Even English newspapers are available at the Newsagents.

"Our 3 month stay in Azay met our 'wish list' in every way."
The house was in a great location, with a short walk in to the delightful town of Azay. Good choice of restaurants, ideally placed to see the surrounding areas, chateaus and vineyards. Great for local… More

"Relaxing and comfortable - yet busy enough to keep our teenagers happy."
We spent a relaxing three weeks in Azay. The house is located just a ten minute walk from the busy, pretty town of Azay-le-Rideau. The property itself is spacious and very well equipped. The pool i… More

"Could have been so nice"
This house has an awful lot going for it. It's in a lovely town, with fairytale chateau, some great bakeries, restaurants and ice-cream places, surrounded by really interesting wineries. It has a… More
We were as disappointed and shocked by the state of the cleanliness of the house as the tenant was. We have been renting this house for 15 years and never had such a problem. We have since changed our cleaner and have a weekly inspection in place. We have also put in a new flat screen television, a complete new linen pack and sorted out the variety of glasses. We are comfortable that we have taken this advice and acted upon it. That is the benefit of the open review system that Trip Advisor operates.

"An enchanting house in a fairy tale village"
Tonight is our last evening staying in this charming house which saddens us greatly.
After a month of being here it feels like home & we have grown accustomed to it's coziness & proximity to the village which is filled with character & not mention lovely restaurant's, cafe's & bakery's.
The house itself has been a perfect place to rest after a day of Chateaux exploring or hiking on the numerous trails which surround us. The fact that it is pet friendly means our dog got to come on the trip as well which is great.
Although the village is filled with a good choice of places to eat, we also enjoyed cooking in the lovely, huge kitchen that is equipped with all you could possibly need to create a masterpiece.
The house also has an excellent/fast WiFi connection which for me was essential as I need it for business. The living/dining room is comfortable & full of character as the rest of the house with it's lovely wood beams & there was nothing more enjoyable than relaxing here with a glass of wine from the area.
I am sure I am forgetting to mention many things that made our stay here perfect but all I can suggest is for you to try it for yourself as I know you will not be disappointed in the house, the area or the friendly neighbors :)
