The Rhone/French Alps region

St Julien du Serre is a very picturesque village with its own local shop, old stone houses, a listed 16th cy Roman church, superb 360° panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges, wonderful hiking possibilities (on foot, on horseback or mountain bikes) and nearby little river. St Privat, which is 5 minutes drive away, has its own bakeries, little supermarket, post office and bar.

Aubenas, with its impressive castle, cobbled streets, markets and numerous shops, is only 10 min. drive away. The spa town of Vals, with its lovely park, geyser and casino is equally close.

The gorges of the Ardèche, with the famous Pont d'Arc (35 min. away), are very popular for their swimming and canoeing activities. There are a lot of listed villages to visit in the area as well as numerous caves, namely the very famous Grotte Chauvet, one of the oldest in the world, recently discovered.

The Ardèche can boast numerous culinary specialities (glacé chestnuts, blueberry pies, potato gratin etc) and Aubenas is full of very good restaurants and brasseries.

The Ardèche is still unspoilt.

Other Activities: Canoeing, Go-kart, high ropes tree adventures , bowling, quads

"Wonderful holiday near Aubenas"

Last week me and my husband had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful apartment for our one week stay in Aubenas region. We wanted to find a Gite being close to Gorges de l'Ardeche but at the same time in a very quiet and peaceful location within a short drive to the shops and supermarket.

All the correspondence prior to the booking was straightforward and friendly and we were met by the owners and had a welcome drink on their beautiful terrasse with the far reaching views across the valley.

The apartment was exactly as described on the website - beautifully presented, very clean, comfortable, quiet and equipped with everything we needed and more.

The location of the apartment is excellent if you want to see the breathtaking Gorges de l'Ardeche or visit beautiful medieval villages in the region. Aubenas town is only 10 mins drive and we found a good choice of supermarkets and bakeries there along with some designer shops and restaurants. One day we went for a long drive on D290 starting in Aubenas then visiting the old village of Vogue (with a wonderful château) followed by the village of Balazuc. Afterwards we drove to Gorges de l'Ardeche stopping every 10 mins to take photos and enjoy the amazing views.

The owners of the apartment are very friendly and helpful. I recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to explore the Aubenas region combined with a comfortable and relaxing stay.

We enjoyed our wonderful holiday and definitely will be coming back next year.

"RELAXATION IN SUPERB ACCOMMODATION"

Wonderful welcome from Isabelle and Charles who are very knowledgeable of the area. They are the perfect hosts, there to help whenever you want and especially with your French. The apartment is exactly as described in the advert and gives that little touch of luxury not normally found in a rental property. The views from the pool area are superb with the gite not overlooked. The pool is very inviting with the cover providing shelter from any wind.

The Ardeche area has plenty to see, with many small pretty villages and historic buildings. The nearest town of Aubenas provides all shopping needs as it is only 10 mins away, with 2 large supermarkets and the street market.

It is a gite that we would return to and would recommed to any of our friends with absolute confidence, many thanks to Isabelle and Charles for a glorious week.
