Annecy

Location Description
Annecy is situated at the North West corner of the lake. Geneva is 50 km due north, Chamonix 70km due East, Lyon 120km south west, Albertville 50km south. The first thing you notice about Annecy is its vast turquoise lake. Its beauty has attracted people for centuries - there's been a settlement here since prehistoric times. Annecy lake feeds into a network of canals and the waterways lead you straight into the compact old town, which is overlooked by the towering Annecy Château. Following the canals is a good way of navigating the winding cobbled streets, which have hidden in their depths a 12th century palace, churches from the 15th and 17th centuries, and many cafés and restaurants.

Facilities
Promenade, port, museums, castle, cinema, railway station, parks, bus station, 2 public beaches, casino, galleries, boat trips on the lake, coach excursions to local places of interest.

Festivals
Festivals Fete du Lac (1st Saturday in August), Music Festival (Old town early July) Animation film festival (late May), Bastille Day celebrations 14th July.

Skiing:
The property is ideally placed with easy access to major ski resorts. The resort towns of Grand Bournard and La Clusaz are within 20 minutes drive of Maison Menthon, whilst Chamonix and Val D’Isere can be reached within an hour. Both Menthon and Annecy offer more relaxing evenings than the adrenaline fuelled après ski evenings traditionally associated with alpine resorts, and you can relax in the quiet bars and restaurants or even in the house itself which offers far more spacious accommodation than the typical alpine chalet.

Much of the skiing in La Clusaz is suited to beginners and intermediates, with Beauregard particularly suited to beginners and young children.
Advanced skiers will want to spend most of their time at La Balme, with its extensive off-piste opportunities.
There is also the Asics Trail, a night-time downhill snow trail over the pistes of La Clusaz which is lit by torches.

Guestbook

Dear John

Time has flown by since we got back to the UK and I can only apologise that it has taken this long to let you know how much we enjoyed our holiday. The accommodation was excellent – clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The weather was hotter than we had expected - except we arrived in a thunder storm and watched another on our last afternoon. We did a bit of touring in the car – to Mont Blanc and Geneva, a bit of rowing on the Lake, and cycling on the old railway line to the west of the Lake. We would thoroughly recommend to anyone with teenagers the Parcours Adventure Trail up at the parascending launch site – up the hill from Talloires – even we two ‘oldies’ enjoyed ourselves!
Thanks again
Best wishes
Fiona & Chris Kirton

Hi John,

We all had a fantastic time in Menthon and Annecy.
“Maison Menthon was a real gem. Ideal for a family with two teenage daughters. The girls “owned” the upstairs plus the “den” (lounge), and the adults owned the rest. Very satisfied”.
Suggest you have a visitors book for future guests.
Best Regards,
Willie.
