INFORMATION REGARDING TODDLERS & CHILDREN:

Our bedding arrangement and casual dining area with swivel bar stools are not designed for toddlers and children. We will refer you to crib and highchair rental company.

The balconies, with railings that are 6 inches apart, are not recommended for toddlers and children. Keep toddlers & children away from the balconies. Keep balcony doors locked at all times.

HOUSEKEEPING/CLEANING SERVICE: All vacation rentals do not have daily housekeeping service. The one-time cleaning fee is to pay the cleaning company to service the unit after your stay.

PARTY EVENTS NOT PERMITTED:

This suite does not permit parties or similar events for that purpose to be held.

NO PARKING COMES WITH THIS RENTAL: All the units at the Ilikai does not come with a parking. The guest directly pay the IIikai Valet Parking $45/day with in-out privileges available 24/7.

TRAVEL INSURANCE:

Due to unforeseen emergencies including personal, medical, flight cancellation or delay, inclement weather, you may need to postpone or cancel your vacation. We recommend that you obtain a Travel Insurance Plan, as we have cancellation policies to comply with.

This property damage was independently investigated by TripAdvisor and they made the verdict that the guests caused the damage based on the evidences submitted by the host and the guest. Hosts do not have access to the guests’ Security Damage Deposits, as deposits are held by TripAdvisor. Therefore ONLY TRIPADVISOR can expropriate funds from the guests’ damage deposit after a thorough investigation. As a standard operating procedure, the unit was inspected to be in perfect condition by a manager with full documentation before check-in. However, upon guests’ arrival, we were astounded that this is a family of 10 people. Our listing clearly states a maximum of 6 guests permitted. The guest also registered for 6 at booking. We could have called TripAdvisor to reject the guest’s check-in and confiscate the payment but instead, we extended aloha, kindness, hospitality and checked them in. On the last day of stay, the guest called that the sliding glass door had collapsed. An honest review enables hosts to understand its short comings, so we can improve guests’ experience. However, a vindictive review by a guest who intentionally left out facts to distort the truth is SAD. Please take a look at the facts below: 1. The guest only registered for 6 people at booking but brought 10 people during check-in. Overcrowding contributed to the major property damage. Our listing states maximum of 6 guests to avoid jam-packed and abuse of the property. 2. Documentations submitted to and reviewed by TripAdvisor clearly showing the guests opening the glass door with ease on the day of check-in. 3. Pictures of the damaged wheels submitted to TripAdvisor show no rust or sign of aging but a clean fresh fracture caused by blunt force. 4. TripAdvisor performed a thorough investigation based on evidences provided by both guest and host. 5. TripAdvisor is the party who made the judgement call and concluded the damage was caused by the guests, hence, charging them for the cost of the damage. 6. To replace the broken wheels, the entire heavy duty hurricane-proof balcony glass doors have to be dismantled by licensed professionals, which is extremely costly in Hawaii, and is time consuming. It took 2 days work, causing inconvenience to the next group of guests. 7. The guests left the place filthy with many other minor damages, and they were not reported to TripAdvisor because we believe they are part of operating cost. We manage this rental for many years, but this is the first and only instance a major damage was ever reported to TripAdvisor. Despite the hospitality, it is heartbreaking when a bitter guest fabricates lies in a review. Our previous reviews (ALL 5 STARS) must be applauded and commended. Aloha & Mahalo !
