Comfortable Apartment in Peaceful Location with Garden: Friendly Owners
We very much enjoyed a 7 night rental at this well equipped, spacious and comfortable two-bedroom apartment in the North Peleponnese coastal resort of Stomio.
My wife and I were travelling with our twenty-three year old son and the apartment was very comfortable for all of us.
The owners, Athanasios and Diana, are lovely people and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and welcome.
We were able to self-cater easily as the cooking facilities and equipment work very well, and when a night out is wanted there is a local taverna within a couple of hundred metres stroll towards the sea.
Car hire is a good idea if you want to explore the many attractions of the local area - we managed trips to archeological sites including Ancient Isthmia, Nemea and Sykion, plus enjoyed a number of very enjoyable drives into the surrounding hills and mountains where there are some lovely villages and great scenery and birdwatching to enjoy.
In the hotter months there are also plenty of beaches to visit; in the immediate locality these are either pea gravel or pebbly for the most part, but comfortable enough and the water is very clear. Plus even in early season the weather can warm up suddenly and on one day I did manage a twenty minute swim even though it was mid-April!
The garden to the rear of the apartment is a joy; it is not overlooked and there are lemon and orange trees beyoond the immediate courtyard which provided us with delicious fresh fruit throughout our stay.
The WIFI internet connection was fast and effective throughout our stay and proved very useful when planning our touring itineraries.
There is a private drive on which to park the car which is also very useful, as well as a garden hose[pipe which is long enough to be able to bring round to wash down your vehicle when it is covered with dust!
A very well equipped large supermarket is available within ten minutes drive which provided for most of our needs.
All in all, this is a well looked after traditional Greek property (originally built in the 1920's and suitably attractive as a result) which provides comfortable accommodation and amenities for its visitors.
Most of all we greatly enjoyed meeting Athanasios and his family - in an exchange of e-mails on our return to the UK I was able to say that we had "arrived as guests and departed as friends" and we are all looking forward to meeting up again for a meal when we next visit Athens. …
