“Spacious House with magnificent views” Magnificent views over the ocean to the majestic mountains in the distance is the sight that greets you from just about every aspect of this lovely home. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable. The four bedrooms offer privacy when needed and the open plan kitchen/dining area and lounge is perfect for socializing and relaxing and of course gazing over the ocean with a very good chance of spotting seals, dolphins and even whales. The outdoor entertainment area has a barbecue and you can splash around in the pool watching the sun set. Cape town is a mere 35 minute drive by car and just over an hour on the train, with the train station a 5 minute walk from the house.A shuttle bus to the V & A waterfront is located just outside the railway station. Here you will find trendy bars and restaurants, shopping and street entertainment. Various sea cruises leave from here and recommend one of the sunset cruises which include sparkling wine and wonderful views of Table Mountain as the sun sets. Simonstown and Kalk Bay about 5 minutes away by car. We recommend the Brass Bell in Kalk Bay and Bertha's in Simonstown two restaurants that offer great food and spectacular views. Boat cruises leave from the harbour area at Simonstown and we can recommend doing the shark cage dive. The wine lands are about an hours drive from the house. We had a superb lunch at Klein Zalze but most vineyards offer good food. Also look out for vineyards that offer free wine tastings. A word of warning, alcohol is not sold in shops in Fishhoek and none sold on a Sunday except in restaurants and bars so you will need to stock up for the weekend. We suggest you take your own binoculars as they are required as you scan the seas for sea life. We stayed for 2 weeks and had a mid break service which was most welcome. We did arrive earlier that anticipated but the rental manager was most accommodating and let us in earlier. Overall a fantastic stay and brilliant venue.

“Delighted” We recently spent a few days in Cape Town for our granddaughter's first birthday and needed to stay somewhere comfortable and convenient to get around. As most of us are aware, booking accommodation online is pretty much like a 'blind date' - you never know what is waiting for you upon arrival. We were delighted with our apartment. The location is perfect, the apartment is comfortable, clean and sunny - it makes you smile when you walk in. It has a lovely braai facility on the balcony with a splendid view. Although the weather was absolutely dreadful we did manage to get in one braai while gazing over the ocean against the backdrop of the twelve apostles and lions head. The apartment contains all the necessary 'essentials' that made our stay extremely comfortable. '

“great house and ideal location with good local shops and facilities” My family stayed in the house for a week in August. It had been recommended to us and we weren't disappointed. We enjoyed it. It was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was great and the quality of the kitchen fittings was excellent. The beds were comfortable and overall it was a great place to stay.

Western Cape holidays

The long stretches of secluded coastline and unexploited fishing villages of South Africa's Western Cape are still considered a kind of local secret. If you travel here, you may feel as if you've discovered something that international tourists have not yet found out about. Take a tour through the heart of Cape Town by foot or by bicycle, and then explore some of the Western Cape's World Heritage Sites and national parks. While you are here, visit a refuge and education centre to learn more about eagles or Africa's large cat species, take a shark diving excursion in Gansbaai, and see the historic prison of Nelson Mandela on Robben Island. And at the end of a long sojourn of hiking, biking, exploring the coast, whale watching, and learning about South Africa's complex history, come back to Cape Town to experience the restaurants and theatres of the Victoria and Albert Waterfront.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in the area:

  • Hike up Table Mountain: This is a brilliant way to experience the breathtaking scenery of South Africa.
  • Take a culinary and winery tour: Sample the best cuisine of world-class western cape restaurants while exploring the internationally known Franschhoek, Paarl, and Stellenbosch wine lands.
  • Visit the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens: Come to these botanical gardens during the spring and summer to experience a dazzling array of native plants in full bloom and learn more about the natural history of the Western Cape area.
  • Visit the Knysna Elephant Park: Located between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, this wildlife park offers an opportunity for close contact with protected resident elephants. Also be sure to visit the Elephant Sanctuary at the Crags.
  • Travel the Swartberg Pass: Take a scenic drive along the unforgettable Swartberg Pass, a stretch of road recognised as a World Heritage Site.
  • Boulders Beach: This is a wonderful place to have a look at the famous penguins of Cape Town.

Luckily, there are plenty of holiday rentals available in Cape Town, during every season of the year. For your next getaway, book a beautiful and affordable condo near Eland's Bay or Lambert's Bay, which provide access to some of the most important sites in the Cape area.

Panorama Cottage
Fabulous

What a fabulous stay!!! I stayed here for 5 nights with 2 toddlers. The property was set with a very secure complex with plenty of parking . The views from the property were amazing and all the attractions were easy to get to with a hire car. Camps bay beach front is 5 min away downhill by car and there are 2 supermarkets near by. Uber eats also deliver to the property too. I would highly recommend this property! Note: I would not recommend this property for children under 5. I only advise this due to the staircase leading to the patio.see more

Mutti's Cottage @ 8A Stirrup Lane
Perfect cottage for a relaxing stay, with an amazing pool and wonderful mountain views.

Mutti's Cottage in the grounds of Ashley's and Debbie's beautiful house was well equipped and peaceful with an amazing pool. The whole family were welcoming and helpful, with nothing too much trouble for them to make our stay enjoyable. Harry, their poodle was a delight! Both their staff were happy and friendly and did their jobs well. A car was essential for us to get around but access to Hout Bay and surrounding areas was easy. We really enjoyed our stay - excellent in all areas. We will be recommending Mutti's Cottage to all our friends!see more

36 Ridge Drive, Knysna Heights.
Sans pareil.

There are really not enough superlatives to describe this stunning property. My wife and I stayed here for just four nights on our recent road-trip around Cape Province and we would gladly have stayed for much longer. The property is located near the summit of Knysna Heights and therefore affords spectacular views across the lagoon towards The Heads. Several suspended balconies and a large terrace take full advantage of these views and provide different options for alfresco dining and sunbathing. There is also a sheltered pool with small patio at the rear of the building which catches the sun for most of the day and offers protection from the wind that sometimes blows off the lagoon. The interior of the property is equally sensational - open-plan, light, clean, spacious and very comfortable. The modern kitchen is very well-equipped for a self-catering holiday and there are two braais for outdoor cooking. For cooler evenings there is a central wood-burner that heats the living and dining rooms and has a plentiful supply of wood. The soft furnishings and beds are incredibly comfortable and the interior decor is elegant, attractive and understated. All in all, it is impossible to fault this property. My wife and I would gladly return to 36, Ridge Drive and would recommend it to others without hesitation. Our thanks to Sue whose communications were always punctilious and helpful and who very kindly allowed us an early check-in and a late check-out.see more
