Boschenmeer Golf Estate, amid the picturesque Cape Winelands. nestling on the Berg River valley is an eco-sensitive private golf estate, with many water features, that make it a haven for migratory birds and a sanctuary that is home to an abundance of waterfowl and exotic bird life. The Paarl Golf Club offers superb golfing as it is the only 27-hole golf course in the Western Cape, and the first David Frost signature golf course in South Africa. Designer David Frost has created a golf course of true championship standard and at the same time he has achieved a first class golfing experience that will both challenge the low handicap and scratch golfer, yet not be too daunting for the less experienced 'weekender'. Boschenmeer also offers a high-tech golf academy and driving range, as well as a state-of-the-art club house.
Our family home is within the security secure Boschenmeer Golf estate. The villa has an outdoor pool, with a jacuzzi, on a patio for stunning mountain views at sunset, over a tranquil water feature setting. It has a relaxed atmosphere combining luxury, privacy and security. The Western Cape region
The Western Cape of South Africa is acknowledged as one of the most beautiful locations in the world. The scenery is magnificent, dominated by mountain views and endless vineyards. The Mediterranean climate is very similar to southern Spain with very long hot summers (September to May) and short temperate winters (perfect golfing weather). The region is famous for its magnificent and unique Fynbos flora and fauna Kingdom and its diverse wildlife - you can watch whales, seals and penguins in their natural environment as well as spotting the occasional wild ostrich and baboons as you drive through the countryside.
Boschenmeer is just 30 minutes from the Mother City. Cape Town is dominated by Table Mountain, enjoy the spectacular views of the 2 oceans and the city laid out below you. Cape Town is a modern, thriving, cosmopolitan city that’s exciting to visit, with a normal range of museums, shopping malls and other visitor attractions. The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is the most varied, exclusive and interesting selection of exclusive shops in Africa. Just about everyone spends some time at the newly developed Waterfront, where there are more restaurants than you would ever have time to sample, with food from just about every corner of the world. There are numerous boating excursions leaving from the Waterfront including a ferry to the prison on Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned during the apartheid era. The Victor Verster Prison near Paarl, where he was released from in 1990, is only minutes away from Boschenmeer.
The Cape Winelands is South Africa's wine growing region and there are scores of vineyards within minutes of Boschenmeer in Paarl, Wellington, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Franschhoek, a tourist honeypot, offers high class French style dining and winetasting oportunities and Boschenmeer is situated only a short 15 minute drive away on the Franschhoek/Wellington R301 road. Stellenbosch, a famous University town, is only 20 minutes away with it's 'town & gown' leafy garden suburbs. It has excellent tourist shopping, bars, restaurants, winetasting on vineyards and student nightlife opportunities.
Boschenmeer lies in the heart of the Boland wine country surrounded by majestic mountains, rolling vineyards, wine estates, and is the only 27 hole golf course in the Western Cape. Boschenmeer Golf Estate offers some of the most spectacular scenary that any golf course can offer. The course is beautifully designed and laid out along the Berg river, giving the golfer the contrast between river, lakes and mountains, whilst also offering challenging golf.
International Sports Events:
Test Cricket & Rugby at Newlands.
SA Open Golf Championships: Pearl Valley Golf course, next door to BOSCHENMEER, venue from 2007-2009.

Deep sea fishing, whale watching & shark cage diving at Hermanus.

"Holiday of a lifetime - Absolutley amazing!"
This was my first visit to South Africa and it certainly didn't disappoint. The accommodation was fantastic, it was lovely and modern, clean and had an all round African feel, as well as being in a fantastic location overlooking the golf course with Paarl Mountain in the background. The views from the terrace were stunning, particularly at sun set! It also had easy access to the local Mall, which was only a short drive away, which had everything we ever needed during our stay. Alternatively there were lots of lovely restaurants located in the centre of Paarl which were very good value for money. I would fully recommend a visit to Fairview and Spice Route which do fantastic lunches as well as wine tasting, beer tasting and chocolate tasting! I would highly recommend this trip and accommodation to everyone as it truly was a fantastic experience and I will definitely be going back!! I would also like to say a very big thank you to John and Susan for allowing us to stay in your beautiful South African home and Jaco for looking after us during our stay.
Glad you and your family enjoyed your first Africa experience at our family home in beautiful Boschenmeer. We look forward to welcoming you to our house in the future so that you can continue your Africa adventures.

"our secret paradise"
This was our second stay in this house in Boschenmeer and if I say we already booked for next year you may guess...it was PERFECT. Jaco, the house manager took excellent care of us,including shopping before we arrived, so we could start relaxing from the very beginning. The new phone became as handy as the WiFi...simply loved that we did not have to go to the internet cafe any longer. The golf course was in super shape and we even found a great sport school in Paarl which we could join for the month...to burn off all those calories .... John and Susan thank you for letting us use your paradise!
Glad Jaco our local House Manager looked after you and the house so well. Great that your regular month long visits are to continue in Feb 2014. Our PERFECT 'best kept secret' is just between the both of us !

"The perfect place to be in January"
Four weeks flew by in gorgeous weather with plenty of time sunbathing, travelling round the Wine Route and other parts of the wonderful Cape which, even on a fourth visit, still provided plenty of new places to experience. If we had a problem (as we had when one of us was quite seriously ill for a few days) we had only to call Jaco Rheeder, the property owner's representative in Paarl, and he would be on hand to help and advise. We will be returning as soon as we can and until then will enjoy the memories of one of the best holidays we have had. Bill and Carol Bridge, Bingley, West Yorkshire.
We understand your wife had pnumonia and we were glad Jaco, our house manager, responded quickly and arranged for a Doctor. We heard she was in hospital within hours of arrival in South Africa because of his quick response. We are please she was in the best possible place to relax and convalesce and we are relieved that she is now safe and well back at home in UK. So I now advise any visitor to have good medical travel insurance before departure as medical care in SA is private & fees can be expensive.

"Second stay unfortunately poor maintenance"
This was our second stay, previous being November 2009. The insides of the property appeared to poorly cleaned with cob webs etc. You now need biometric access on arrival (rightly enhancing security vs our previous visit) however the local contact was not available to help. We managed to gain access via the on site estate folks. The nominated contact then failed to help for the following five days regarding the biometric access which caused the local security folks unnecessary concern with having to allow us in and out each time. Pool not attended in the 3 weeks we stayed at the property. No Internet access provided. The cable tv provided ran out for two days during our stay and was eventually reinstated. No hair dryer. WoW for the girls. No property phone even for local locals leading to expense if mobiles from outside SA need to be used. On departure the local contact provided the same excuse regarding being stuck in traffic and therefore could not meet us to verify the property on departure. Sounded similar to our arrival. Disappointing overall. Improvements required re basics in terms of WiFi, hairdryer and why folks have to chase up the cable tv using a UK based mobile phone to call/text the local contact and owner.
Thank you for your comments. We are sorry that you experienced problems. Your feedback has been used to improve our service to our guests. Rest assured, we have acted on your observations about the standard of maintenance of our property and the unacceptable meet and greet problem with our local house manager. The biometric security screening issues you experienced will be addressed so that access to the estate is not a problem in the future. We are installing a landline and WiFi in the New Year and the property now has a hair dryer.

"Home from home, fabulous location"
We stayed in this house for a week in January it was just like home all the facilities in the house were excellent and the location in Paarl with a large shopping mall and great resturants in Main Road were perfect. It was easey to get into Cape Town, Stellenboch and Francshoek and as a base we were able to see many places of outstanding beautiy in this part of the Cape. We would highly recommend this house and its location.
Glad you liked our home....we can't wait to get back there as soon as possible too!

"Holiday of a lifetime"
We arrived in Paarl in early November 2011 and the house was everyhing you wanted and hoped for. The views overlooking the golfcourse and subsequent sun sets were a site to behold. We felt safe with the friendly people around the complex. The were always smiling and made us so welcome. Wth great places to eat, with Bossa Nova in Paarl a particular favourite of ours. We visted Robben Island and Table Mountain and the bus tour aroun Cape Town is A must do. Por hose has beutiful views, and is quiet and we are already making plans to visit this fantastic place again in the future. The views aroun are spectacular, and although we had 2 weeks there there is still so much more we would like to see. we cannot fault to accommodation in any way and would recommend to anyone that this really is fantastic value for money. Thanks must go toeveryone who made this trip a holiday of a lifetime.
We're delighted you were impressed with our beautiful Boschenmeer home. You say you want to stay for longer next year and we look forward seeing you again.

"Golf estate villa, excellent location, well furnished and equiped"
I agree the comments made by the reviewers below. We stayed for 3 weeks with a 3 and 5 year old and the plunge pool was fine for them. I've been trying to book the villa on subsequents trips. There's plenty to do in the area for 3 weeks and the proximity to motorway means that Cape Town, Constantia and the airport are quite quick to get to. You can view the sunset from the back patio/pool area so its a great place to end the day. The accomodation was very nicely furnished, spacious and well equiped.
We look forward to meeting your young family next year when we are all back at beautiful Boschenmeer for Christmas.

I would agree with the comments of the subsequent reviewer and have recommended this house to other friends .
Our new house manager will meet and greet you at the Boschenmeer security gate on your next arrival in March. A welcome pack and some electricity units will be on the meter for your arrival. Enjoy!

"Very pleasant golf estste villa in excellent location for exploring the Winelands"
We stayed here for a week and found it a good base for exploring the Winelands and taking trips into Cape Town. The house is situated right on the golf course and from the terrace provided pleasant views of greenery and lakes under an impressive mountain backdrop. The plunge pool was quite small but sufficient for cooling off in, however we found out we could use the main pool on the estate as well for more of a serious swim. Our five year old loved feeding the ducks that used to visit if we opened the garden gate. One thing we were concerned about on our trip was safety but we had no worries here – the gated estate and security guards at the entrances gave us peace of mind. There is quite a big shopping mall (with supermarket) just a few minutes down the road and we found a couple of excellent restaurants in the town of Paarl too. Overall, would highly recommend this house and the area, we will certainly be using it again on our next trip.
We look forward to hosting your young family again at our family home on beautiful Boschenmeer.
