Why Valencia?

Tradition and technology come together in Spain’s third largest city, Valencia. But unlike popular hot spots Madrid and Barcelona, Valencia still has an undeniably intimate feel. It doesn’t have the glitz of Madrid and Barcelona: it doesn’t need it. From its lively city streets to the surrounding miles of rich farmland and sun-kissed coastline, it’s all of Spain’s best bits brought together.

Old Meets New

This historic city developed over many centuries and thrived as a port on the Mediterranean. Its Old Town is a joy to get lost in and reveals one historic building after another, a highlight being its 13th-century cathedral. But Valencia has a razor-sharp modern edge, too, with the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences becoming an iconic landmark in recent years.

Home Of La Paella

You’ll find many culinary delights in Valencia, not least of which is its famous creation, la paella. The sleepy village of El Palmar is, without doubt, the best place to sample it. Another regional delicacy is horchata, a delicious milky beverage made from local nuts and served cold. Visit a horchateria (a café that serves nothing else!) to enjoy it along with the locals.

Natural Beauty

You can’t help but be bowled over by Valencia’s landscape. Expecting miles of golden sand and beautiful blue sea? You won’t be disappointed. From the unspoilt Malva-rosa beach right near the city to the white sands of Sagunto, the sunbathing opportunities are endless. Some beaches are located within the Albufera Natural Park, a beautiful lagoon rich in wildlife.
