A wonderful villa in a beautiful location with 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. The pictures of the villa don’t do it justice, it is beautifully kept, clean and spacious with lots of different outside seating areas to enjoy the sun/shade and different views. Rafa was always on hand to help us out and is a lovely gentleman picking us fresh figs and almonds as well as a couple of rides on his quad bike!! I can highly recommend this villa, which is surrounded by lovely traditional whitewashed villages still unspoilt by tourism. You will need a car to get around, with the nearest villages being 5-10 minutes drive and a large supermarket/beaches around 35-40 minutes drive. …
This really is the nicest villa we've stayed in
The location is stunning, with views to the mountains & glimpses of the sea in the distance. The house is spacious and beautifully presented, with tasteful furniture and every creature comfort imaginable. There's fast broadband internet and english tv as well as a large selection of DVDs and books.
The villa was perfect for what we wanted, which was to chill out and relax around the pool, which was far larger than in any other villa we've stayed in, and looks straight out over the gorgeous countryside. Special mention to Jeanne & Rob who did such a great job of looking after us during our stay! …
Casa Joya Granaino
Utterly delightful, highly recommended
Myself, my wife and our young son stayed at Casa Joya in summer 2011 and it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. We were made to feel welcome by Jenny even before we had left the UK with immediate email responses to our questions and detailed directions, can hire info etc. The journey from the airport to the villa is straightforward although if arriving in the dark, as we did, it can be a little challenging once off the main road but Vic helped to guide us in.
The location is wonderful - the villa is surrounded by olive and almond groves on the side of the hill with plenty of space to explore and great views over the hills towards the sea, glinting in the distance. A few other properties are visible but the feeling of space, solitude and peacefulness is so relaxing.
The guest apartment is very nice with enough space for us to spread out and be comfortable, both inside and out, with two terrace areas available for guest use, along with sunbeds etc. Kitchen well equipped and there is a TV, DVD, books, internet access etc. The private pool and loungers are a short walk away from the guest apartment and is lovely, looking out over the hills but enclosed enough with flowering plants adding some colour.
Jenny and Vic are often around and always pleased to have a chat, give advice and generally do what they can to make the holiday as pleasant as possible. They are great company but also fully respect the privacy of the guests so the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming.
Further afield, the beaches are within fairly easy reach although it is about a 40 minute car journey down through the hills (very pleasant though) so keep this in mind if you would like to spend the whole holiday on the beach. There are some nice beaches directly south from Casa Joya or some even better, less busy/touristy ones a little way up the coast which we loved. The large supermarket is also about 40 mins away on the beach road and can supply everything needed. Alternatively the local shops, while having a much smaller range, are friendly and convenient, being only a short car ride away. The surrounding villages are also great to explore and some of the restaurants/bars are very authentic and 'local' in character - well worth a visit.
Overall we had a fantastic holiday at Casa Joya and it is a real gem that we hope to return to again. It's a million miles away from the bustling resorts and hotels along the busier coastline areas and all the better for it, in our view. Vic and Jenny are great and just make the whole holiday experience even better. Thoroughly recommended.
