Located on 1200 acres of pristine bushland on an elevated plateau on the edge of the great dividing range, the property is about 35km SW of Gatton and lies between the Darling Downs and the Lockyer Valley. Long Grass Nature Refuge features a beautiful modern house that sleeps seven. Fully equipped ready for you to bring your own food and drinks and relax.
We offer the whole house for homestay in much the same manner. The house is beautiful, fully equipped, cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
It will sleep seven people with two queen sized beds and three single beds.
We allow well behaved dogs but they must stay in the house yard and be kept off of the furniture.
If you are in to horse riding then you may bring your own horses to ride along our riding trails. We have horse yards, tack room, water troughs, tyre feeders, fenced horse paddocks and a full size round yard.
We have three horses of our own who will be very curious to meet your animals.
The road to the house is quite steep so be prepared to drive up in low range 4wd but the journey is worth it.
If bushwalking is your thing, we have a network of tracks that cover a wide range of different ecosystems. They range from and easy stroll up to the picnic shelter (about 4km return) to steep and rocky walks through sandstone gorges.
If you want to stay in the house, camp and spend a few days exploring the area or prefer to just come for the day we can accomodate you either way.
Long Grass has been a wildlife sanctuary and Nature Refuge for nearly twenty years. It has a wide range of birds, kangaroos, wallabies and other wildlife to delight nature lovers.
You will come away from Long Grass with a new appreciation of the phrase peace and quiet.
Miles away from other houses and with little or no passing traffic on the dirt road, the only sounds you hear are the calling of birds and the sighing of the wind.
Enjoy beautiful sunsets from the veranda whilst sipping a glass of your favourite wine and let the cares of the world pass you by.
