Villa Playa Del Faro is a brand new elegant oceanfront vacation rental home located on the Yucatan Peninsula's Gulf of Mexico! Telchac Puerto is home to a large American Flamingo colony plus other species of birds. This comfortable, spacious retreat is your home away from home, with beautiful ocean views and fresh sea breezes day and night.
Villa Playa Del Faro is located in a quiet area with American, Canadian and British neighbors who live there months at a time. We are only 45 minutes north of the large, colonial city of Merida (over 1 million people), which has an international airport (Code MID) featuring direct flights from Houston, Miami, Atlanta and Mexico City. The best connections are on Continental Airlines, offering 1 stop service from most US cities directly into Merida. You can also save some money and fly into the resort area of Cancun, which is about a three hour drive from the Villa; it is also served by a luxury bus that travels from Cancun to Merida.
Villa Playa Del Faro is architect designed, with Talavera tiles finished bathrooms, kitchen and stairway giving it a definite Mexican style. It is a brand new construction accommodating 4-6 people. Just a few steps out your door, your private gate opens onto a deserted white sandy beach that you can explore for miles. Swim, snorkel, fish in the warm aqua-blue waters of the Gulf. The peaceful, shallow water with no undertow or drop-off and no sea grass, is perfect for wading, swimming and the variety of shells is fascinating. At the end of the day, be amazed by the breathtaking sunsets, listen to the waves and enjoy a blanket of stars with no light pollution to get in the way. This part of the Gulf of Mexico has not been affected by the recent oil spill in the north; the turquoise waters and white sands of the Yucatan beaches are still pristine and unpolluted. The quiet, warm Gulf breezes are made for delicious tropical nights!
It has two bedrooms each with private bathroom with shower and balcony. The master bedroom has an oceanfront terrace with a spectacular view. The master bedroom has a queen bed; the second bedroom has two queen beds. Downstairs, a kitchen, open plan dining area and lounge look out to the outdoor patio area with its outdoor dining set, long chairs and beach chairs. A terracotta and talavera tiles charcoal barbecue with inbuilt sink and cooking area are ideal for your ocean view barbecues by the pool.
A long white sandy beach, that is almost deserted for most of the year, is just steps down from our terrace. You can walk for miles collecting sea shells and watching pelicans dive for fish. You will meet a handful of fishermen and one or two foreigners – otherwise, you will usually have the beach to yourself.
You could stay in this area for a long time and not run out of things to do. The local people are very friendly and helpful, and will gladly assist you even if you don't know Spanish.
We have an English speaking caretaker if you need assistance, she will also meet you and introduce you to the Villa.
Historic Merida is a city dating back to the 1600's with amazing original architecture in the Centro district. Experience music and dancing or on Sunday morning rent a bike and tour the city on several streets closed just for bicycling. You will love the fabulous restaurants and outdoor cafes in Merida, and the shopping is great!
Also you can visit modern Merida with it's ice skating rink in the center of a mall, interesting zoo, or it's VIP movie theaters with lounge chairs and cocktail service. Even Home Depot, Costco, Wall Mart, McDonald, Sears, and Starbucks, if you're homesick.
There is much to do nearby including visiting Mayan ruins (Dzibilchaltun, Chichen Itza, Uxmal, and several others), or swimming in Cenotes (underground rivers), fishing, lots of shopping, or just beaching it. The area is culturally interesting and will provide you with insight into true Mexican life
