St. Helena Bay

Take the four minute walk to the nearby beach - stroll the white sands - view the calving whales who come from August to year’s end and also large schools of dolphins leaping and chasing close by. A 2km drive takes you to Britannia Bay, another lovely Whale and Dolphin watch spot. There are good restaurants within a few km radius. The Shelley Point Golf Course is just a few minutes drive away with excellent facilities for relaxing after a game.

A lovely protected cove on the South Western shore of St. Helena Bay - one of the only three natural bays on the mainland coastlines of the world where one can see both sunset and sunrise over the sea. Though only 150 km from Cape Town, St Helena Bay has a milder and warmer climate providing ideal conditions for your stay in the peace of this quiet haven. Well situated for day visits to the West Coast National Park, Cape Columbine Nature Reserve and the quaint fishing village of Paternoster. Or you can join a tour of the internationally renowned paleontological diggings at the nearby Fossil Park.

A Birdwatcher’s paradise, with more than 200 species, visit the hides at Rocher Pan, The Berg River Estuary and salt pans of Velddrif, as well as the golf club in Vredenburg. The free spring-flower veld displays every year are a Botanist’s dream as are the nearby Darling and Hopefield flower shows.

And at the end of a perfect day, raise your glass to a spectacular sunset and the promise of yet another breath-taking day.
