Sonoma is in Sonoma Valley, a major wine producing area, so it is surrounded by vineyards and wineries. In fact, there is a vineyard one block from our house. It is open to the public and you can take walks in it.
Sonoma Valley is part of Sonoma County with other major wine areas such as Healdsburg and Russian River. Next door is Napa Valley with all of its vineyards and wineries. All of these are in beautiful little valleys, separated by small mountains.
Fifty miles to the West is the Pacific Ocean. On one of the ways to the Ocean you will pass through major dairy farms providing beautiful open land. If you take the Russian River route you will be passing through a wooded area and arrive at the coast where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean. On the Coast you have miles of beautiful coast line, both North and South,
Sixty miles to the south you will find San Francisco, one of the treasures of the world.
