The Casita, with its own private secret desert garden .
ENTER OUR 2 1/2 ACRE PROPERTY: onto our private driveway between large desert trees, past a red split-rail western fence on the right and our "corral--type" metal gate, you are facing the east side of our private Casita home. : . As you drive over the red-rock gravel area you are facing the east side of the Casita.
Your "first choice, depending on your vehicle, you can drive directly into the one-car garage (with a private door entering directly into the Casita itself) or park in the large open area outside the building and walk to the right, past a Century Tree and desert plants and "under" the arch. Continue alongside the garage wall (covered with large plants growing to its roof-line) and have your first look at our Sonoran Desert. To the left you enter through the two low Mexican wooden gates onto the north portion of Casita patios.
PATIOS: The patios "wrap-around" on three sides of the Casita and are extra-wide. Each side has at least one table and plenty of comfortable chairs. There is a large water fountain. In the distance on the north you can see Lone Mountain with its hiking trails; the west and south patios overlook desert views. On the south side of the Casita is also a large private, enclosed cactus garden, with some special specimens and its own seating.
ENTERING YOUR VACATION HOME: From the west patio through a large pair of sliding glass doors you enter into the west "wing" of the "L-shaped" carpeted living room.
LOOKING TO THE RIGHT "WING", in the far corner, on each of two walls, is a double sliding glass "picture windows" (with screens), facing west and west and south. In the corner is a large comfortable chair and ottoman; more book shelves and books and an audio system. Under one set of windows is a "day-bed", the top doubling as another "couch" or bed (twin mattresses - the bottom one is hidden until pulled-out and raised. Interesting, twin mattresses, when placed side-by-side are but a few inches less wide than a king-sized mattress. This side of this "L" wing has an antique western desk with wired & wireless modem, art work and bookshelves and a door to the bedroom.
Throughout the carpeted living room are ceiling fans, real-wood ceiling vegas, colorful art-work, recessed ceiling lights, small tables and lamps..
LOOKING TO THE LEFT: in the near corner where the two "wings" meet, is a wood burning fireplace, large wood vega mantle, in front of which is a long leather sofa (the two end sections can raise as "leg rests" for relaxing reclining.
THE "LEFT" WING of the "L" features another couch and a sofa; with small tables, art work and lamps, Opposite these is a full wall of recessed book-shelves. These feature large flat-screen large TV with Direct TV and HBO and a CD/cassette player attached to the TV. There are also numerous books from our private collection featuring a great variety of topics. On two designated shelves are many modern fiction novels (for this shelf do not worry about "finishing a novel" - start reading one and you can take-it-home. There are also some cassette and DVD films and CD music disks - and our larger private collection is also available.
FULL KITCHEN: beyond the farthest couch is a dining room table, doorway to the garage and our large kitchen with appliances on three sides and a double window facing the east; plenty of recessed ceiling lights The electric kitchen (save on restaurant costs) has a- 4 burner stove top, oven and built-in microwave; dishwasher; new pots and pans; double kitchen sinks, garbage disposal and reverse osmosis water dispenser; large refrigerator with ice & water dispensers (both using reverse osmosis water); and adjacent large floor-to-ceiling walk-in pantry.
THE BEDROOM: accessible either thorough a door in the southern side of the living's "L" wing, or a door between the bedroom and the bathroom. Featuring a queen size bed, new ceiling fan with light, lamps, art work, a large chest of drawers and a flat screen TV with Direct TV and HBO; and some chairs; a picture window (with screens) looking out onto the private cactus garden and the southern desert beyond.
