From the owner

Far enough from the central Plaza to be removed from noise and bustle, yet an easy walking distance, the 2-floor Suite offers the best of both worlds. It's also often 5 degrees cooler there, which is on the south side of town heading towards Punta de Mita. Paths leading to the area's best-kept-secret hidden beaches are right across the road. The walled and fenced private and secure grounds offer many mature palm trees, flowering plants and fruit trees. This is a good spot also for bird watchers.

The space is a large 2-floor condo with a combination of both private and communal areas which can accommodate the needs of a single, couple or large or small groups. Coming up the exterior stairs, there is a large roofed outside terrace which offers good views and which includes a full kitchen table and chairs and seating area.

From the terrace there are two separate large lockable bedrooms which share an en suite bathroom (with doors that lock on both sides). Each room includes table and chairs and dressers, night stands. Going up the spiral staircase on one end of the terrace is the large open roofed dormitory space with 3 other beds and a large sitting area. From there are far-reaching tree top views. There is another full bathroom on the ground level which guests are also able to use.

There is ample parking outside the gate for more than one vehicle, and enough space inside the gate to secure up to two vehicles and also golf carts which can be easily charged from the outside outlet.

There are 3 mature and lazy cats, sometimes very friendly, on the premises and no dogs are permitted.

Communication is key, then respect that we are not a hotel or resort but a home which we open to travelers. Our rates are affordable, so travelers can enjoy Sayulita. Mexico is its own experience. We ask that you practice tolerance and appreciation regarding the experience and adventure. We cannot make Mexico not Mexico for you. Noise and loud sounds are common, roosters/chickens/dog sounds. Also, infrequent power, internet and sometimes water outages can happen but are quickly restored.

I just spotted this review. With our 254 reviews and super-host status on another site (I only infrequently use this one), I'm not sweating this review. However, the flagrant inaccuracies beg for a sensible correction. We are kind and level-headed people. We also have accurate listings. This guest proved a very abusive fellow, berating, insulting and yes screaming at my Mexican partner. Given this, alone, we should have considered asking this guest to leave. It seemed to all be going well, with him dining with our charming French/Argentinian couples who were helping, which he happily emailed me about, until the point where I requested the extra charge per night, per guest for those exceedingly the first three guests who stay at the initial rate. He had brought in extra guests who he made sure stayed for free or so it seems. And, yes, he did threaten me more than once, however, je did stay for the entire time, almost one month. Additionally to that he took it upon himself to chop down our rare dark red Copa de Oro old- growth ("dangerous") tree - he referred to as a "major scorpion and spider highway." Ten years old. It's now gone. Yes, we should have asked him to leave. There has NEVER been one instance of a problem with scorpions or spiders in the Suite or elsewhere on the premises. This claim alone, the notion of Scorpions climbing trees to "get to" unwary victims, solidifies his pretensions regarding any supposed actual or real familiarity with Sayulita. It's beyond ridiculous. The other trees in view of the upper terrace he mentions - which he thankfully did not also chop down - are frequently filled with birds who come to visit - Orange Tanagers, Hummingbirds, sometimes Chachalacas - which most-to-all guests are charmed by. Yes, at the time he stayed, there were town water outages which affected everyone in town with even a shortage regarding trucked in water tank availability. It was soon remedied. Additionally we have a huge capacity underground water storage tank which he was clearly aware of. Then, the path to and from the Plaza is one of the most level, flat walks in a very hilly town. It's clocked at 12-15 minutes. Many guests enjoy the walk. There are stores to buy supplies plus many restaurants very nearby to us - no need to walk all the way to the Plaza. There IS a full extra bathroom, on the ground level, which is lit at night and which guests find useful and have no problem with. The spiral staircase he refers to is a "double wide," not at all small. I'm simply curious regarding why the deliberate exaggerations and inaccuracies? He stayed the whole time while completing a house build, he said. When he left, he pulled up a truck yelled at everyone to not bother him and when he left is was found that we were missing, oddly, the many new fluffy pillows he mentioned that we did not have and many other newly-purchased items. Most guests are great. We had hoped that Loyd would be and that he would enjoy his time staying with us, as so many guests have done and do. Sometimes as a host, you simply have one of those guests. It's too bad..it's a shame for everybody.
