Named after the delicate beauty of the Hibiscus flower, Hibiscus cottage is a lovely octagonal shaped studio, offering a luxurious and practical design ideal for Caribbean style living. The cottage is very private and has a stunning solid timber vaulted roof which gives the studio an enticing, spacious and cool atmosphere. Measuring approximately 8m (26') wide and with a large covered veranda on the front, this accommodation is the perfect choice for two people wanting the luxury, intimacy, privacy and space that your own cottage provides. A queen size bed complete with luxurious mattress is positioned centrally in the room and ample seating, cupboard and storage space is close at hand. A spacious en-suite toilet and shower room leads from the living area and a complimentary range of bathroom toiletries are provided, together with quality bath linen and pool towels.
Two cane and rattan armchairs provide a very comfortable seating area and the panoramic views looking through 24' of glass fronted patio doors are absolutely breathtaking. The large and private veranda has a bistro dining table and chairs allowing you to dine Al fresco style and enjoy the ambience of the outside environment. The well laid out kitchen has a sink unit, 2 burner gas hob, fridge, combination microwave oven and grille, toaster, kettle, cafetiere and a comprehensive range of high quality cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. An ice bucket is supplied and complimentary ice is available from the villa owners or their staff.
This very private cottage has breathtaking and panoramic views looking directly over the Caribbean sea and is reached along your own natural stone pathway and down a boardwalk with steps. The walk is beautiful and takes in the lush gardens of Tropical Hideaway and a hillside garden of mixed fruit trees and colourful Hibiscus plants in a visually stunning array of colours. It should be pointed out that Hibiscus cottage is situated 67 steps down from the Infinity pool, Gazebo and the pool patio area. It does however provide absolute privacy and the views are simply stunning. The sunsets here can be breathtaking, the green flashes magical and if you are lucky enough to be here on a full moon the shimmering moonlight reflecting on the ocean will take your breath away. It certainly is worth the one minute walk.
The latest High-Tec Samsung 40” internet Tv gives access to our in-house entertainment system supplying high definition films, Tv, music and Internet radio. The television is positioned to allow viewing from both the comfort of your bed and the armchair seating areas. High speed internet and Wi-Fi is supplied in the room and for those really hot days when the cooling Caribbean wind has taken a rest, you can turn on the air conditioner until the breeze returns. A ceiling fan is also positioned over the bed. All of the windows are fully screened and the patio doors have sliding insect screens allowing you to have the doors and windows open and still enjoy the ambience of outdoor living without getting bitten. We have no biting sand flies (no see ums) at Tropical Hideaway and are mosquito free most of the year, except for a few around evening time.

The very large and beautiful 18m wide Infinity edge swimming pool is just a short walk away and this is solar heated, allowing the pool to be enjoyed all year round. Our winter pool temperatures are usually just below 30deg C with our summer pool temperatures rising to around 34deg C (93deg F). The majority of the pool is around 1.3m (52”) deep increasing to a maximum depth of around 2.2m (86”). Curved and generous steps allow easy access to the water and several raised areas provide an abundance of areas to sit, stand, chat or relax. Natural coral seats surround both the pool bar and the Gazebo daybed and with the large cedar tile roof overhangs, shade can be found in the pool at most times of the day. The entire pool is tiled using natural stone pebbles in pastel shades of greens and blues creating a visually stunning, balanced and natural effect, that blends perfectly with the turquoise colours of the Caribbean sea. As your eyes wonder out over the infinity edge and focus on the horizon, you cannot fail to be impressed. Now would be a good time to pinch yourself and appreciate the realisation of where you are and what you are looking at. These are often very private and magical moments and we know these memories will be with you for many years to come.
The Gazebo has a daybed suitable for up to 4 people and enjoys High definition Tv, music, internet radio and Wi-Fi. This is the ultimate place to wind down, relax and read a book or simply take in the stunning, panoramic views, they will take your breath away. Your own personal drinks and food can be enjoyed from these areas and the sunken, swim up Pool Bar, has a fridge, sink and serving area for your convenience. Led lighting enhances the evening ambience and pool lights allow the pool to be used after the sun has set. A large, non slip, natural coral tile patio adjoins directly onto the pool and is furnished with lounger chairs and parasols, making this an ideal area for reading, sunbathing and general relaxation.
Tropical Hideaway has without doubt some of the finest rooms on Bequia and coupled with the spectacular panoramic ocean views, and the beautiful evening sunsets, you soon realise you are enjoying, what many say, are the finest views on Bequia, from the finest accommodation on Bequia. We know you will enjoy the experience.

The Bequia region
The small island of Bequia gives you the true Caribbean, a sought after yet not quite discovered piece of paradise which is hard to find anywhere else. Unspoilt by mass tourism, it feels like home from the moment you arrive. You will find the people relaxed and easy-going, greeting you as you walk by and always available to offer help and advice.
The small airport opened in 1992. Until then, you could only reach Bequia by sea. This seafaring heritage is very evident on the island. Every family has some ties to the sea through fishing, boat building, sailing, merchant shipping and everyone has a tale to tell, over a beer or two. It is also a yachties 'best kept secret' and most yachts large or small find they drop anchor in the pretty bay at some time during their voyage. It is an island not to be missed
There are many beautiful, natural white sandy beaches, lush green hillsides and attractive villages. It caters for guests who want a quiet, relaxing holiday,or to those who want to fill their time with fun and adventure. During the winter season especially, there is something going on somewhere every night of the week..
The Caribbean is blessed with ideal temperatures all year round with daytime temperatures averaging between 25C (77F) and 30C (86F) throughout the year. An evening in the winter months (January to March) might see a low of around 24C (75F) and in the summer months the temperature will occasionally reach 32C (90F).
Princess Margaret, Lower Bay and Friendship Bay have some of the best beaches on the island and they are all within walking distance, Take a picnic or eat and drink at the local restaurants and bars. Belmont Walkway is only 25 minutes away and is a beautiful beachfront pathway passing various cafes, bars and shops which are well worth visiting. Both dive operators are based along here and cater for novices to experts. This is very popular pastime with visitors who want to explore the beautiful clear waters.
You can discover the island by taxi, or you can hire a car, scooter or bike. You can visit the Turtle sanctuary, plantation gardens, museums and pottery which are dotted around. Take a day trip to the neighbouring Mustique, Union or Canouan islands by fast ferry, or the world famous Tobago Cays by yacht or the Friendship Rose. Visit our 'mainland' of St Vincent and explore the volcano and waterfalls.
Bequia has its own 4 day Easter Regatta where, if you are lucky, you may be invited to race on one of the boats. It also has its own 4 day Music Fest at the very end of January. Bequia Carnival is usually in June and Vincy Carnival is around late June/early July

"Truly Amazing Tropical Hideaway - You Won't be Disappointed - AWESOME!!"
We travel to many tropical destinations and have loved them all. Tropical Hideaway in Bequia, though, has surpassed any of our other trips. From the moment we arrived at Tropical Hideaway, we were welcomed with open arms from the proprietors, Martin and Julie. They are awesome hosts and treated us like we were family. We stayed in the Hibiscus Cottage and felt like we were in our own private place. It's one of the private cottages that are all truly great. They are accomodated with a small kitchen, a full shower and bath, a wireless set up for internet usage as well as a bank of programs to watch, and the most spectacular views one could imagine. Each of the cottages had it's own unique flare and design. I'm sure we'll be back to try one of the other cottages. Getting there: You should plan to add one extra day of travel coming and going. You can either fly into Trinidad and take a next day flight to St. Vincent and then the ferry to Bequia or fly to Barbados and fly into Bequia. This place is worth the extra time. Getting around: You can rent a vehicle, however, they charge a fee to get a temporary licence and driving is on the left side (opposite if you are from the US). We chose to use the taxi system. They were great and took us anywhere we wanted to go. All we had to do was call and they'd be there within 15 minutes. Dining: There is a small kitchen and refrigerator and stove top for those you might like to eat some of their meals in their cottage. There are also many restaurants in and around the Admiralty Bay area. There are some local grocery stores and kiosks set up with fresh fruits and vegetables. Activities: Although we just stayed mainly at the property and relaxed, there are several things to do including day trips to Tobago Caye which is one of most beautiful spots on the earth where you can snorkel or dive. There are also some Dive shops that you can use to go on dives.

"Exceeded all our expectations."
This is possibly one of the best locations in all of the southern caribbean. The accommodation is to a very high standard and Martin and Julie are excellent, friemdly and accommodating hosts. We will definitely go back again. And on top of all this it is great value.
