Relax in this cozy 2 bedroom cottage, nestled on a 575 wooded acre preserve with a rushing native trout stream flowing through the property and a series of mini water falls with a huge cool soothing swimming hole. There is an abundance of wildlife, an exceptionally pristine natural wooded landscape. Perfect for a quiet romantic getaway.
Entering the driveway, one begins a slow descent into the relaxed, other-worldly aura of the peaceful, bucolic and mysterious Dwarfskill Glen, traveling half a mile before reaching the cottage, the four-bedroom vintage main lodge and a small one-room cabin (both also available). From the top of the driveway, one can see a far ridge, which is part of the Dwarfskill Preserve Property.
The open combined kitchen, dining and living area in the cottage is all knotty pine with wood floors, ceiling fan, cathedral ceiling with French doors overlooking a back lawn/meadow, with a picnic table, charcoal grill, abutting the forest. Two small bedrooms, each with queen size beds. Comfortable furniture, gas stove and kitchen stocked with necessary dishes, cookware and spices. Immaculately clean, with quality bed and bath linens.
The Dwarfskill creek is just down a path through the woods; it can be heard babbling through the dense hemlock and pine forest as it rushes downstream to Split Rock Falls (ten minute walk from the cottage). More than a mile of the Dwarfskill, which is a naturally-reproducing trout stream that runs through the property.
The cabin is located five miles from Milford, PA, which Atlantic Magazine once called “the prettiest county seat in America”; three-quarters of the village is in a National Historic District and it offers many galleries, antique shops, coffee shops, boutiques, restaurants and specialty shopping.
Heritage attractions include Grey Towers (a Normanesque, stone Richard Morris Hunt-designed 19th c. stone mansion that was the home of the Pinchot family), The Columns Museum (featuring the blood-stained Lincoln flag, which cushioned the President's head moments after he was shot) and the Hotel Fauchere/Relais & Chateaux with its three restaurants, patisserie, day spa, vintage menu collection and permanent exhibit of Hudson River School paintings. The day spa, Badea & Soul, offers massages, facials and body scrubs/wraps in the comfort of your cottage rental, by pre-arranged appointment.
Milford is adjacent to the 70,000 acre Delaware Water Gap National Park, with miles of hiking and biking trails, a network of waterfalls and the pristine Delaware River, federally protected for nearly 100 miles, with great canoeing, tubing, kayaking, etc.
