Villa Tulia is located right next to the beach, with coconuts palms around, you are just 10 steps from the ocean.
We have built it for ourselves. It reflects our lifestyle and passion for Africa. We have travelled around the continent and inside the house, which is built in Zanzibar style, you will find canvas from Mali, carved pieces of furniture from Congo and baskets from Kenya.
We are all very busy people and we needed a place to rest, a hideaway from our daily busy schedules. Far from the crowds and Western civilisation. We were seeking simplicity, nature and comfort. A place to relax and forget about stress.
We wanted a place which would feel like anything but the office space. We would rather have the breeze than air conditioning. We would not need the TV - we would rather read the books than watch the news.
We were looking for a place where we could take long walks on the beach or wading in the ocean, enjoy the flavour of local fruit and vegetables and wake up to the sound of singing women who pick up the sea weeds in the morning.
We wanted the space to feel free. Instead of having electric fence, we would keep an open view on the ocean and have 3 Masai men to protect the property 24/7.
Villa Tulia is our solution for family reunions or spending time with friends. We love cooking and eating together. We wanted our kitchen to have the ocean view and enough space on the terrace to accommodate big table where we could gather around and enjoy Swahili cuisine. Above all, we always wanted to share our passion with other people.

The Zanzibar Archipelago region
The island is without doubt the number one beach location in East Africa, an absolutely wonderful island of tropical white-sand beaches, lush plantations, an incredible history and a fascinating culture.
Above all what we really appreciate about Zanzibar is that despite ever increasing numbers of visitors, it remains resolutely African ... a passionate, intense, and relatively challenging place to visit.
Matemwe is a village on the north-eastern coast of Unguja, the main island of the Zanzibar Archipelago, between Mwangaseni and Kigomani.
Its economy is mostly based on seaweed farming and fishing.
It has beautifull white beaches.

I just wanted to thank you for letting us stay at villa Tulia. It was just the peace and quiet we needed after a gruelling week on mount Kilimanjaro. Everyone was wonderfully friendly and the staff at beach village along with Pili and the Masai's were incredibly helpful and attentive. Jacek and Justyna have created a relaxing hideaway stripped of all modern annoyances leaving you with no option but to chill. Take plenty of bug spray and a good book. And some sweets for the kids on the beach. I hope to be back in the future. Noel Sullivan

"A lovely and well-decorated place next to wonderful beach"
We just returned from our holidays in Zanzibar, we choose to stay in a house instead of an hotel in order to be free to organize our days and meals. The house is very well-decorated and there is one bathroom per room which is highly appreciated. The kitchen was fully equipped and we enjoyed cooking fresh fish, though it can be a little bit complicated to gather every ingredient you may need (there is little shops next to the house but not very well-supplied). The massais who were looking after us and the house are nice; the prices of excursions are quite high but we did not plan to do that much so it was ok for us. The amazing beach was the thing we were looking for and the water was so clear (just be careful with sea urchins), the sand was as white as on the postcards. We definitely enjoyed our stay in the house.
