332344 - A typical Finnish summerhouse in Southern Finland.
While travelling in Finland in July with my wife and two daughters aged 11 and 9, we wanted to not only see tourist sites but also get a feel for how a Finn would spend their summer. We stayed three days at this summer house and it was the highlight of our trip, not only to Finland, but also across Scandinavia. Our girls loved the outdoor feel of the place, just like a summer camp. There was plenty of games for them to play outside, including darts, badminton, and of course the Finnish game Molkky, in addition to riding in both the motor boat and the rowboat on the lake. Olly, the owner, also provided fishing gear and bait so they could fish off the shore in front of the cabin and catch small fish. We also loved the sauna that is attached to the cabin, and used it daily to heat up before jumping into the cold lake water. My wife was happy to sit outside and read on the shaded deck The cabin is less than two hours from Helsinki by a nice drive. The final road to the car park/boat launch appears to be into the woods, but Olly met us there and helped us load our baggage and supplies into a boat for a short ride over to the island and the cabin. The cabin is a nice size for a small family, with a family room and three bedrooms. The deck in front has a dining table and great views, so we had all of our meals outside.Everything was clean and tidy and quite picturesque, a step up from a rustic cabin since it has modern amenities like running water and electricity, but with a very outdoor feeling. The area around the cabin is wooded and there only a few other houses on the small island, none of which are within site of this cabin, so it feels very private and quiet. The lake itself was not busy when we were there in July. Our family enjoyed the island and lake so much that we took the boat across only once, and that was to dock and walk up to the grocery store to get food and drinks for dinner. Olly was the perfect host -- he lives in a cabin nearby and can come by boat in just a few minutes. He was very patient in showing our girls how to smoke the fish the caught and provided us with anything, including advice, that we needed. If you want to get away with your family in a private outdoor setting, this is a great option.

Holiday Uusimaa
We had a great stay on the island
The chalet is functional. There is good to live and the environment is very very pleasant
Lots of games for kids and more a cottage than for them.
Olli was always at our disposal if we lacked something
He made us share his sin, took us to pick up the nets, made taste of smoked fish
The boys loved fishing on the lake and practiced the no kill
There are plenty of blueberries and we cook great tarts
The light is beautiful on the lake both at sunrise and sunset
It is a place where one forgets the trepidant life of our cities and where one is in communion with the nature
We ended up in the evening by the sauna (very good) and the bravest stung a head in the lake
It was a good relaxing holiday and can be at the pleasure of seeing again
A single bemol the kitchen is not very young but it is not a problem for us
