Description

Natural Surrounds.....The cabin is set in two acres of indigenous garden and forest with rock formations, wild flowers and Koi fish ponds. The natural swimming pool, low slung hammocks and trampoline, make it the perfect natural playground for children.

Perfect Position......This warm, welcoming home is perfectly positioned for exploring the peninsula and the city. It is only minutes away from the beach, restaurants and cafes. The V&A Waterfront and Table Mountain cable car are 20 minutes away. Constantia Wine lands and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens are less than a 5 minute drive away.

The Home Itself.......

The main bedroom has a queen bed and glass sliding doors that lead onto a private covered deck with a hammock. The two large windows look out to the mountains where the sun rises. A Victorian bath offers beautiful views to the forest and mountain peaks. A toilet and basin complete the en-suite bathroom.

The second bedroom has twin beds and glass sliding doors that open onto the main deck. The large window looks to the mountains where the sun sets.

The second bathroom has a walk in rain shower with a large window looking into a yellowwood tree. The wooden basin and toilet complete the bathroom.

The kitchen is spacious and modern. It is well equipped with a glass-top stove and oven, fridge and microwave. All cooking utensils, crockery and glassware are fit for entertaining guests.

The Lounge has high ceilings and hanging lampshades that mimic silk woven cocoons. The lounge extends onto the deck with foldaway glass doors on three sides that opens it up to the valley and the mountains beyond.

The deck has wooden table and chairs for the inevitable el-fresco dining and evening drinks. There is a barbeque for cooking on the open fire. The swimming pool is deep and playful and a wonderful place to soak up the African sun.

The Furnishings....

The furnishings are organic and textures are of the earth: linen, cottons, sea grass, raffia, sisal, bamboo, knotted leather and sea shells. The organic connection is not limited to the furnishings; the walls and floor are treated with plant oil on the inside and the house uses the African sun as its source of energy.

“A little piece of heaven”

The cabin was spacious, beautifully furnished and with amazing views. Perfect for a romantic getaway or a break with friends. It was fantastic lounging at the private pool, savouring the afternoon sunshine, finishing off the day with a braai on the deck as the sun went down. It has everything you need - including romantic bath - and was my idea of perfect accommodation. Can't wait to go back!

“Wonderful host, beautiful views and luxurious accommodations!”

Our stay here far exceeded our expectations. We had just arrived from 3 weeks in a village in Tanzania, doing volunteer work. The large tub in the bedroom was just what I needed to get cleaned up, beds were so comfortable, and I was excited about the coffee pot (having lived on instant coffee for the previous 3 weeks). A grocery store (Quick Spar) was about 2 kilometers down the road and had everything we needed to prepare meals, Our hosts, Colette and Warren, were there when we needed them, helped us out by letting us use their hiking map, but gave us the privacy we needed to rest up. We felt safe and secure. If we ever get back to the area, we will stay there again.

“A place to unwind and relax away from it all and yet be close to so much!”

We were fortunate to stay at Blackwood Lodge for 12 nights. The lodge is in a beautiful position situated high above Hout Bay with lovely views. However it is close enough to enjoy both Hout Bay beach and the wine estates of Constantia. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and has been furnished in natural tones to compliment the wooden lodge. There is a large terrace and freshwater pool to ensure we relaxed during our stay. The owners, Colette and Warren are close by and were very welcoming.... So to sum up our stay..we enjoyed it so much we have already booked again. There can be no better recommendation!

I went to Cape Town lots of times in the last ten years. Blackwood log cabin is one of the most comfortable, peaceful and secure place I ever stayed. Surrounded by nature, with a little private pool and a stunning overview from the terrace. Beatiful furniture, very clean and lot of space to live. Probably would be better to have air conditioning during the hot season, but this is not so relevant to affect the holiday. Our guest Colette was very kind And always ready to help us. We will certainly return in the future.

“PERFECT”

From the onset Collette was very helpful and patient as we had issues that meant us changing dates. The lodge is gorgeous. Spotless, and very quiet. Beautiful views. The location is very private and peaceful (unusual for Hout Bay). My little boy loved it too...fab private pool..trampoline...chickens roaming..just gorgeous. Definitely will return. We have stayed in Hout bay many times, this lodge is by far the best.

We were very fortunate to spend a wonderful five days in Blackwood Cabin and can’t recommend it highly enough. The views across the valley are stunning and the location is quiet and peaceful. Colette was a thoughtful and unobtrusive host and the cabin was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with everything we needed – bedding, towels, hand soap and any kitchen utensil we required. Our sightseeing schedule kept us out every day but it would be easy to while away the days relaxing at the cabin and next time we’ll stay longer so that we can make full use of the pool, the deck and the barbecue.

“Wonderful Home Away From Home!”

If you're lucky enough to visit Cape Town South Africa, Blackwood Log Cabin is where you want to stay. This place is FANTASTIC. The accommodations are perfect with views of Table Mountain National Park just across a wooded valley and gardens on the property landscaped with beautiful native plants and even fish ponds and a pool! Don't know about you but when I think of a log cabin I envision camping out or at least living rather rustic. There's nothing about Blackwood Log Cabin that's rustic. It offers full privacy and all comforts that a visitor to this wonderful country could ask for. To complete the vacation package, you get to meet the owners Colette and Warren Riley. They made us feel so very welcome and offered much appreciated tourism information that was always right on the mark. Do we recommend Blackwood...YES. Would we stay here again...that's another resounding YES!

I cannot gush enough about this property This is definitely the best place we have ever stayed and wants for nothing. The house is amazingly private, the views unbelievable and the hosts lovely beyond compare. The house is spacious and very tastefully furnished and equipped and the beds absolute heaven. The only problem I had was getting my children out of my glorious bath (even though the shower room was amazing too). Please can we move in and live there forever....

Thank you to the owners for the most delightful hospitality and experience! The view was spectacular! The facilities was most comfortable and nothing short! Blackwood Log Cabin is a little paradise nest which captures your full attention and allows you to engage with nature...total freedom and pure serenity! I would recommend the escape 100%...it's absolutely amazing! It's one of my favorite places and I will be making a habit going back for more!

How do damage deposits work?
