Overview
Discover our one-of- a-kind vacation rental perched high in Ecuador's northern Andean highlands. Situated amidst 33 acres of fertile, volcanic farmland, the tranquil vistas will take your breath away.
A hacienda-type feeling pervades our three-bedroom home with large tiled floors, a spacious dining area, fully stocked kitchen, fast Internet connection, and three fireplaces. The unbeatable view of farm fields framed by volcanic mountain terrain evokes a sense of quiet astonishment.
On clear days, you can see the Caymabe, Cotacachi, and Imbabura Volcanoes and the nearby Fuya Fuya mountain range. On cloudy days, put on a jacket (temperatures are rarely cooler than the 50s in the mornings and evenings), sip a beverage on the front porch, and meditate as the clouds dance atop the Andean peaks. Lake Cuicocha is literally only a few steps from our front door and is considered one of Ecuador’s finest natural attractions. Formed in the extinct crater of a massive volcano, hike the the crater’s edge trail ( about 4 hours) or take a boat ride around the lovely waters.
The well-known tourist towns of Cotacachi and Otavalo are both within a 15-minute drive from the Tranquil Place. You will find a wide array of excellent restaurants, or cook up a storm whenever you choose after shopping at local organic fresh food markets. Transportation by taxi, bus or vehicle for hire options is readily available. Every Saturday the famous open-air Otavalo artisan market is a do-not-miss event offering an unimaginable variety of organic produce, local food, gifts, clothing, alpaca woolen goods, jewelry, art, music, and much more. Cotacachi is famous for a wide variety of high quality artisan leather goods. The Peguche waterfall, Condor Refuge, Rio Intag sub-tropical river valley (where our Rio Intag coffee brand is grown and packaged), Chachimbiro Hot Springs, Lago San Pablo, Quito day trips and many more options are easily accessible.
In the words of one of our happy guests, "If you’re looking for an inexpensive and convenient (and restful) place that can serve as a springboard for venturing out into northern Ecuador, The Tranquil Place is a great choice."
