Accommodations: B&B, 4 Bedrooms Total ( Off the grid using Solar Energy electrical and water)

Nestled on a 60 foot cliff, overlooking the Caribbean Sea below, lies the secluded Casa known as Hotel Panoramica. Located on the southern shore of the Dominican Republic you are treated to an amazing Panoramic View of the entire coastline. Become mesmerized by the waves crashing on a small coral island in front of the Villas or watch the clouds roll over the tops of the majestic mountain range.

This location is for the tired or stressed guest who wants only to hear the sounds of the sea. Or if you choose to leave the serenity of the Inn you can tour the cultural flavor of the Province. Barahona offers the greatest biodiversity in the country and is where nature's most marked contrasts occur (tours listed below). Where else can you find yourself in a desert at one point, then drive just 30 minutes to a green pine forest?

The nearest International Airport is in the capital Santo Domingo which is a relaxing scenic drive 2 1/2 hours away. We can offer a taxi pickup at the airport for a reduced rate or you can take a large modern air conditioned bus for 270 pesos / person and enjoy the scenic views through the mountains. Or simply rent a car from the airport.

The Villa compound boasts 24/7 security, back up batteries, A/C, high speed WI-FI, and is quiet, clean and safe. Immediately to the north is a secluded pebble beach with sand patches, accessed directly from the north exit. You can pass the hours swimming in the large pool, sun tanning deck side or just relax in the shade and take in the view under the large pallappa. The compound grounds are meticulously maintained daily by a professional gardener. The 2800 sq. ft. villa is of newer design with European accents and floor to ceiling windows facing a spectacular expanse of Caribbean Sea. The Presidential Suit commands the ocean view side of the villa and has a massive walk out deck looking over the grounds. The ensuite bathroom features a large Jacuzzi tub. The other two bedrooms upstairs both have separate ensuite bathrooms, one bedroom with one queen size bed and the other with two queens. The main floor contains the fourth bedroom also with two queens and separate ensuite. The main floor is open concept design with the spacious, functional kitchen flowing into the large family/living area. All furniture is very comfortable and made of bamboo. The entire house is bathed in natural light during the day thanks to a generous endowment of windows. By opening the right windows you get a perfect natural flow of cool sea breeze throughout the villa. No A/C needed!

Barahona has many ecotourism attractions, zip-lining through the mountainous forest, take surfing lessons or a spa in the forest. and Also features several quaint local restaurants within 10 min drive. This region of the Dominican Republic provides the most sun with least amount of precipitation compared to any other region. Finding abundant cactus plants demonstrates the relevant dry climate and you can still enjoy the low humidity and cool gentle breeze off the cobalt blue sea.

Tourist Attractions as follows:

Cachote

Take a 12.5 mile uphill route where you will discover the cloud forest in the mountains of the Eastern Bahoruco. The route takes you around the Padre Miguel Fuertes natural monument to Cachote. Cachote is a town with less than 50 inhabitants and three rustic cabins for visitors that operate at about 4265 feet above sea level and include a nature center and walking tours.

Pit of Pelempito

Imagine a great pit, about 4.5 miles deep, resting between the mountains. Its bottom is 1150 feet above sea level, while the massifs which surround it reach up to 1186 meters. There is a visitors' center on its peak, at a height of 3891 feet.

Lago Enriquillo

At 138 feet below sea level and 186 square miles wide, this is the Caribbean's largest lake, and home to crocodiles, iguanas and flamingos

Larimar Mines

To visit the mines, take a detour off the Sierra de Bahoruco road that goes from Barahona to Pedernales to reach Los Checheses and Las Filipinas, which are right next to each other. Remember that only 4-wheel drive vehicles can transit through here.

Bird-Watching

The famous Oviedo Lagoon is a great choice for the observation of species such as the royal heron, blue heron, spoonbill, many seagulls, the white-crowned pigeon, flamingos and other aquatic birds.

Magnetic Pole

The Magnetic Pole is located west of the town of Cabral. This is certainly the area where the best Dominican coffee is produced. Here, nature has some surprises. You can stop on the road to observe the magnetic hill phenomenon. This is a strange phenomenon that makes vehicles which have stopped at a neutral point slide upwards on the hill.

Villa Miriam

A private house with a waterfall that is channeled to form several pools and whose cold waters serve to relax the body. Some say that they also relax the soul.
