A beautiful Canarian-style house with a huge garden with fruits, flowers and vegetables, that the owner encourage us to pick and eat them. Great view of a dragon tree, pleasant walk to the town and the seaside. …
a little gem in Puntagorda
I really wanted to give this typical rural accommodation 5 stars but we had a little problem with our hot water supply which was very soon sorted by Carlos the owner.
In fact Carlos the owner was genuinely super friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay all we wanted it to be. We had difficulties with stormy weather on our arrival in La Palma which made our check-in very late, but both the accommodation agency and Carlos made sure that we got to Casa El Tendal safely!
The amenities were excellent including the outdoor space. The garden with its plunge pool and outdoor barbecue area were super. We enjoyed picking the oranges and making fresh squeezed juice every morning. The casa is a short distance from the centre of the village with supermarkets, restaurants and bus services to the rest of the island but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. We enjoy hiking and nature and the location is perfect for both. Although there are good bus services, I would recommend hiring a car if you want to make the most of your visit to La Palma. Don't miss a trip to Restaurant Azul, one of the best on La Palma, but only open at weekends and a little craft brewery in Tijarafe for excellent La Palma beers and tapas. Other highlights of our trip included Puerto Tazacorte; La Fajana, the Atlantic washed outdoor pools up in the north of the island and a road trip up to the astronomical telescopes with a short hike to the top of the island with great views of the Caldera Taburiente.
It was my first trip to La Palma and indeed the Canary Islands but would love to return. I would definitely book Casa El Tendal again if we do. …
