Beautiful apartment and amazing resort

My parents spent a week at this beautiful apartment on Dunas Beach Resort. The location was perfect, ground floor was great for less mobile visitors and there was a bar and swimming pool just outside the door. The apartment had everything they needed for self catering and we took some trips into Santa Maria for dinner and shopping. The resort itself has everything from bars, restaurants, entertainment and a beautiful beach. and the staff were great. What can We say. From the moment Vicky picked us up, to the time she dropped us off at the airport. The service was second too none. She took us to the local supermarket, on the way to the apartment to pick up a few things. Nothing was too much trouble. The apartment was massive. Ideal for up to 6 people. ( although we were only a couple) The facilities in the apartment catered for everything needed for a self catering Holiday. Full size washing machine and good size fridge, even an iron and ironing board. Full entertainment system including free WiFi if needed. The apartment is just a short walk from Cafe's and Bars. Its about a 10-15 minute walk to the pier in Santa Maria. We discovered many small supermarkets local to the apartment which had all the basics. Some had different items in stock. you just had to look for them. All part of the self catering experience. Would Highly recommend and cant wait to re-book another stay. **€99 SALE** 3 BED SEA VIEW VILLA, Melià Dunas Beach
Lovely villa

Villa was lovely and clean in an excellent location on the Melia Dunas resort, very close to the beach. Didn't use any of the cooking facilities in the villa as purchased an all inclusive package (including flights through TUI) for Sol Dunas (sister hotel in same resort) Although we couldn't use certain bars + restaurants aligned to Melia Dunas (which is the main complaint in the resort) the all inclusive was absolutely fine that we got included in the Sol Dunas Package. Most days we had waiter service breakfast and lunch in The Grille, alternatively we used Spices buffet restaurant. We booked 6 nights out of 7 for a la carte 3 course evening meals at The Grille + The Italian (IL Terrazzo). You had to book these in advance, after 11am at Sal Bar. Although the a la carte meals were really nice, these could get a little repetitive (as well as buffet restaurant) if staying longer than a week and waiter service can sometimes be a bit slow but not a problem when you're on holiday. Alcoholic drinks were very strong, plenty of beer, spirits, cocktails and cava on tap until 2am. Entertainment not as good as other hotels we've been to in Cape Verde, but staff, they are very hard working and excellent dancers. Wifi was excellent around the resort. At the villa it was on and off but not as bad as I expected. Water pressure for showers in 3 bathrooms was really good, just had to plug boiler in, under the stairs, for 1 hour before we had a shower in the evening, then unplug again to avoid the owner getting a huge electric bill. The washer was good, which I used to wash the towels + a few clothes. Beds were comfy, so too were four sun loungers in back garden. Maintenance staff came regularly to clean pool and tidy the garden. Villa only cleaned before our arrival + after departure ( which totally suited us for more privacy). Any queries we had on site, the owner would reply promptly through the TripAdvisor / Holiday lettings site. The only thing I would say to make the villa even better, if at all possible, would be to have higher walls / fences around the back garden, to make it more private from neighbouring villas, passers by and the security guard in the ally next to the villa. I would definitely stay at this villa again and the weather was fantastic, especially when we knew it was snowing at home. … see more
