“My 2nd stay and I plan my 3rd trip again soon!!!” This was my second visit to Guanaja Caribbean Cottages and I can't wait to go back again. The cottage is adorable and having top quality towels & linens are a real plus. I also appreciate the pillow top queen size bed, most places in the islands only have a mattress on a bare board! Having a full kitchen is nice, but I didn't need it, I ate all my meals ate the resort. This time I was more adventurous. Kay, the owner, took me on a hike to an amazing waterfall close to the resort. We had it all to ourselves, well a pup followed us up & that added to the island charm. We sat by the pool of the waterfall for most of the afternoon, then stopped at Bo's place for a cool drink before heading back to the cottage. I snorkeled the reef the last time I was there, but this time Kay took me on a snorkel tour to the drop off. I saw an amazing variety of sea life, including nurse sharks. Kay said 95% of all Caribbean sea life can be found at Guanaja. I also enjoyed the snorkel tour to Red Hill, it was a coral garden, also beautiful and like swimming in an aquarium. The coral & fish at the coral garden are different than the sea life on the reef, except I did see a nurse shark both places. The octopus was also amazing & the giant green moray eel. I also had a tour of the local fishing village, Mangrove Bight. The people are very friendly and the village is like visiting the old Caribbean. I loved the variety of meals- crab, lobster, lamb, and local cuisine that I had never had before. The dinners are four course and I was stuffed after dinner. The deserts that really stood out for me was the creme brulee, pineapple flambe and flan. Even the soups & salads were special. Kay makes a green papaya salad that is so good, it had fresh mango and pineapple in it and a local cheese with a homemade pineapple vinegerette. The food was one of the highlights of the trip.

“Everything I expected and more!” The house is exactly as the pictures you see, a great place for a family or a group of friends. The coordinator, Tish, welcomed us, walked us thru the house and was helpful in activities we wanted to do. The family who cooked for us (also cleaned the house) was an absolute joy. Very affordable and very, very good! The views are wonderful, the private cove is a treasure for kayaker's and snorkeling. Don't forget the deet and if you rent a vehicle other than the owners, be sure it has horsepower!

“Adventure in Paradise” How does one describe Paradise?Two words~Far Tortuga! We spent 10 fascinating &adventurous; days at this lovely home above the coral reefs & Caribbean, watching hummingbirds & iguanas, luxuriating in the Infinity Pool, feeling warm trade winds & enjoying the overwhelming amenities this home provides.The beautifully appointed kitchen, spacious living area w/ ocean view, & lanai, master bedroom w/ sliding door providing views of the ocean,& the private,yet secure location made us never want to leave! We snorkled & kayaked from the First Bight lagoon &off; the coral outcrops below the deck, in waters abounding w/Caribbean sealife.We were almost content to just repose in the pool,but adventure beckoned & we toured West End/ West Bay~main tourist & diving areas,w/Jimmy Buffet atmosphere. Our favorite was the east end,less developed & quieter.We stopped to visit BJ at at Bj's Backyard restaurant/bar in the picturesque town of Oak Ridge,chatted w/friendly folks in the Garifuna village of Punta Gorda, & loved dining at La Sirena (The asylum), locally called Jimmy's, in Camp Bay. Eating lobster & grouper on a deck over the Caribbean while watching sea turtles swim below & the exquisite Honduran sunset was the best birthday ever!!. We met wonderful folks 0n our Far Tortuga stay, from local islanders born on Roatan to american exPatriots & of other nationalities who now make this island their home. Be sure to visit Butch &Sherry; Wade @the Bulk Gourmet in French Harbour for wonderful speciality foods & wine, &much; more. Far Tortuga is a treasure we want to certainly return to for our next visit to Roatan. We will certainly include Scuba Diving then, as Roatan is the premier dive spot on the 2nd largest barrier reef in the world. . Truly a Caribbean Paradise & beyond even the accurate listing description. Far Tortuga is the vacation home of your dreams on Roatan. “Perfect!” We went to Utila to spend time with our son and wife and small grand girls as well as enjoy the island. At Legunas Vista we were able to do both! The pool offered a perfect setting for our 4 year old Maple who just learned to swim and 6 year old Lilli to practice her skills. It was a great place to hang around and just enjoy. We had an extra bedroom for grand girl sleepovers. It's also centrally located and we could walk to town, restaurants, Iguana Station and shops. The house was very comfortable with all the amenities. Couldn't have picked a better place for family fun. Thanks Tony and Jo for being great hosts! We'll be back.
