Baywatch has well appointed apartments with great views across Gulf of Kalamata to the Taygetos mountains & Kalamata itself.
There was plenty of room for ourselves & our boys who used the big sofa bed.
The apartments were clean & tidy, well decorated with all the equipment & facilities you'd expect. A daily cleaning service kept everything ship shape.
Free wifi was useful as it helped keep the boys 'connected' but also allowed us to check out maps, routes & information for days out.
Lovely pool - shame the Jacuzzi bit wasn't working but work was underway to get it going again (didn't really miss it). Bar serves the usual drinks & snacks & also does a Greek buffet breakfast.
Baywatch itself is set quite a way from the main coast road up a hill so you will need a car.
Chranoi is a quiet village with a few restaurants, a couple of shops & beach bars.
All the restaurants were friendly & welcoming - we preferred 'Hellas' but to be honest there wasn't much in it between them all.
The shops had plenty of provisions to keep us going & allowed us to cook for ourselves a couple of nights.
The beach bars are relaxed & family friendly with free sunbeds & umbrellas - though you do need to buy a drink (no pressure though).
Days out were easy on relatively quiet roads, Koroni, Methoni, Pylos, Finikounta, & Gialova are all worth a visit. The Omega shaped beach at Voidikilia is stunningly beautiful - no sunbeds or umbrellas so take towels your own umbrella, the atmosphere is very relaxed & family orientated.
Ancient Messene is remarkable & gives you a real sense of how the ancients lived.
Also if you're up for it go to Olympia, another great site packed with history. It is about a 2 hour drive but use the toll motorway from near Kalamata airport & it is easy (no traffic on the motorway), the main roads were good after that too.
Overall a great place to stay & explore the Peloponnese from, the team at Baywatch were friendly & helpful & would go out of their way to look after you.
We were made very welcome & language wasn't an issue despite being the only UK family on site. We would happily return should the opportunity arise. …
