Houses in Canada and Log cabins - Holiday Lettings - Holiday Rentals Canada
“Architecturally integrated into woodland, garden and tidal lagoon” We stayed in the cabin as a milestone Birthday treat. The website story of the design, construction and devotion to detail was exceeded only by the experience of enjoying the luxurious tranquillity and transforming vista of the foreshore at high and low tide. The palpable transition from cabin to patio and rocky gardens,to primal woods and tidal flats,is brilliantly executed in this unique geographical location. We could not have been more comfortable, from the soaker tub outlook at treetop height, full family kitchen, craftsman executed yellow cedar interior and much more.
“Music. Tea. Eagles soaring by. Toasty fire. Huge bath by the window. Am I in heaven? Ill be back! Just MAGIC” I love the design. I want to design my home like this. We had the most magical, nourishing, relaxing, fun time at Moon dance. Its like a wild life sanctuary! The time of year was perfect with the frosty leaves and huge eagles welcoming us as we arrived. I love the way the huge bath is right near the big window....high ceilings, yummy fire, great cds, massive balcony, amazing art on all the walls. Very comfy bed. We slept so well. We left so inspired, refreshed and alive!
“Great girls weekend away” I and 4 university friends have stayed at the Summer House over a long weekend 4 times in the last 5 years. We each had our own bed, the living room is very comfortable, there's a great gazebo, BBQ and back yard, the kitchen's fully stocked with dishes, equipment and appliances and there's a great big country kitchen table for meals. It's close to downtown Wellington, it's scrupulously clean, comes with towels and sheets, and Lynn Braun, the landlord, is very welcoming and accommodating. The only drawback is it's not on the water, but since we were there mostly in the off-season, that wasn't a problem for us. It's within driving/biking distance of wineries and good restaurants. The price is very reasonable, especially if you're sharing the costs with friends. A great find in the town of Wellington.
“Perfect place to unwind and enjoy fishing.” We have been going to Tesla Lodge for over 10 years and love the lake. The package includes the plane trip to the lake, the cabin, boats at all three lakes, a smoker and a beauitful lake. The fishing can be slow at times but when you catch a fish they are large and put up a fight. The view from the cabin is awesome, I can and have spent hours just sitting on the deck and enjoying being alive in this beauitful place on earth. We have seen moose, goats and grizzlies. The eagle and loons are also there to welcome us back. The cabin has everything you could need on a remote lake. Hot water, stove, refrigerator, wood stove with lot of wood for the cooler evenings. We have picked huckberries for our pancakes. Nic and Mary are awesome to work with and have always been great to us. I would recommend this lake to anyone who wants to catch big fish and get away from it all.
“2 nights was not enough!” The cottage was huge! There was a lot of room for a family to spend a relaxing holiday in this extremely homey and cozy cottage. Ken & Stacy are extremely nice and made sure we had a wonderful stay. The only thing we needed was food, clothing and some toys for the kids (just in case). We never once turned on the TV as we didn't need it. The sunset is absolutely gorgeous. The one thing we couldn't get over was how quiet the area is, it was no problem having an afternoon nap just listening to the crickets! Neighbours and merchants were all very pleasant. Everything you need in this little town for food, boating and fishing. It was nice going to the break-wall at the edge of the property and dropping a line in and fishing all day, it was perfect for our 5 & 16 year old. We will most Definately be returning next summer but for at least a week, if not sooner for winter camping/fishing. Thank you Ken and Stacy for a wonderful weekend!
“the most beautiful view and relaxing feeling...” This is our second time at the blue heron...we love it. It's clean, affordable, great
Location, lake view, close to Huntsville, and close to parks (hidden valley and arrowhead). Susan is great and will definitely be back. We love Muslims...both summer and winter. Can't get enough if it...and wouldn't stay anywhere else...great for a family get away.
“Wonderful stay at the Beach Log Cabin” I recently stayed at the Beach Log Cabin with my father and couldn't say more about the fantastic accommodations, time and vacation to be experienced by choosing the resort. There are three hottubs on the premises, the Beach Log Home is charming beyond description and the the entire property sits on the beach. Completely and fully recommend this as a great option when looking to spend a relaxing weekend away on Vancouver Island.
“Great accomodation, owner is super helpful” We really enjoyed our stay at the "StayAtTremblant" condo. The location is great and so are the amenities. We like to prepare some meals in the condo and as such we really appreciated having some of the common kitchen supplies like salt, sugar, oil, etc available.
We will definitely stay here again if/when we come back to Mont Tremblant.

“Amazing lakeside rental!” We stayed for 5 nights over the Labour Day weekend and had a lovely time! The house is amazing with everything you could think of. Perfect for our family of 4. Our kids had a blast hunting through Bet's yard looking for slugs (Thank you Bet!), swinging on the swing and paddling around in the kayaks.
“Peaceful, Beautiful Cottage” Hello,
I stayed at this cottage this past weekend with a couple of my girlfriends. We where looking for a quiet remote location to relax, enjoy the sun, and bonfire in the afternoon. Upon arrival to the cottage we where greeted with a fantastic scenery, a very clean cottage that was comfy and welcoming. The house provided basic amenities that we might have needed or forgotten. It was a great space and far enough from other cottages to have the privacy you wanted. The lake was very beautiful and clean. The kayaks where a great feature and well very much enjoyed taking them out on the water. The bonfire area was a great feature. The beach area was very clean and comes with great lawn chairs. We very much loved the covered porch that looked onto the water, a great place to have your morning coffee. Overall, this cottage was an amazing experience and I would recommend it for anyone from families to groups of friends. it is exactly what you are looking for.
“We all love the place” This house is both casual and luxurious. The lakeside house has great beds, nice sheets, a well-equipped kitchen, an amazing open and scenic living room, a lovely garden surrounding the house and lots to do in the area. I've enjoyed walking on and exploring the area along the shore, wading out into the lake to swim, relaxing in the hammock, and cycling on the many country roads. I've stayed there several times, with and without my kids, and we all love the place.
“Beautiful, comfortable cottage” Simon is a pleasure to deal with. He welcomed us to the cottage with a warm note, then he personally welcomed us with a bottle of wine! He gave us coupons for wine tastings around town, and tips on places to eat.
The cottage is comfortable and nicely decorated. It has a lovely yard area and a nice porch where you can sip a glass of wine and relax. The location is wonderful- a short walk into town- short enough to be a comfortable walk, and long enough to walk off some of the icecream we ate at Cow's!!
We have stayed at the Read House many times- each time has been wonderful. We look forward to going back!
“Picturesque Location, Nice Rustic Interior, Sleeping Accommodation Could be Improved” We rented the Villa Morin Heights for a small intimate wedding with close friends and family. My first impression upon entering the villa is that it looked much nicer than the pictures on the website seem to indicate. We were charmed by the river-side backyard, and the common room had new flooring that looked much better than the old carpet that we were expecting.
We liked the rustic charm of the common room where we had the wedding dinner and the following dance party. Our guests only had positive comments about the venue. There was a diverse selection of tables and chairs, and enough side rooms to hide those we did not need during the party. The corner bar is a very nice feature of the venue and our guests liked hanging out around it.
There is a large industrial kitchen, and our caterer loved all the space he had to work with. The walk-in fridge was very practical to store all our wedding flowers as well as all the drinks we had with us.
The owner had cleaned up the backyard near the river (at least compared to the pictures we had seen) and set up a nice arch that we used for our wedding ceremony. Note that there was just enough matching outdoor chairs for our small group (25). A bigger group would need to use chairs of different colors to sit everyone outside. Some of the outdoor chairs were quite dirty and we spent a bunch of time cleaning them up ahead of the ceremony.
One thing to keep in mind is that this is a riverside property, and therefore there a lots of insects in the summertime, especially towards the end of the day. We had lots of black flies and mosquitoes circling around us and a bunch of our guests got bitten. Having been raised in Quebec, I was personally expecting that, and none of our guests complained too much about it, but if you are a person that reacts strongly to bug bites, you might want to go elsewhere or stay inside.
The rooms are quite simple, do not expect any kind of luxury there. The sheets provided where too big for the beds (the sheets were queen-size, but the mattresses were doubles). Certain rooms were missing curtains/blinds which not ideal if you are trying to sleep in after you wedding night. Most windows in the cottage are these very old guillotine-style windows that are difficult to open and close. One nearly chopped my fingers off.
One thing that wasn’t clear to us before we got there was that there are two pairs of rooms that are clearly made for 2 parents + 2 kids with a communicating door between the two rooms that does not lock. Unfortunately, our guests were mostly couples without kids or single people. This means that certain of our guests had to sleep in rooms without access to a bathroom (the closest “common” bathroom was quite far and didn’t have a shower). We knew that not every room had its own bathroom, but we didn’t expect the people sleeping in those rooms to have to go to other people’s room in order to use the bathroom. This made some of our guests uncomfortable, especially since most of them didn’t know each other.
The place was fairly clean when we got there, except for a big pile of dirty and smelly rags and towels on top of the washing machine. We ended up having to put it inside the machine to hide it, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t our job to do that. Another thing that we found annoying is that it was difficult to ask details about the venue to the owner. We were organizing this event from across the continent and there was a bunch of details that we needed to know in order to plan our wedding properly. The owner either provided vague answers or ignored our messages entirely. A better line of communication would have been appreciated.
Overall, it’s a charming venue with nice rustic room for a big party. The location is really gorgeous. The sleeping accommodation and customer service could be improved.
“Spectacular wilderness get away...refreshing” I was vacationing along with 5 family members from all across Canada. We arrived after a beautiful scenic drive from Calgary to be welcomed by Barbara in a way that we felt home, safe and amoung family. The log cabins are spectacular, very clean and everything you need to be comfortable. The view from every window was breathtaking and different and even when the cows come visiting you are happy to see them.
The cabins are located off the main highway near Lumby BC but not to the point of feeling isolated. The drive up the mountain to Bear Valley is breath taking and exciting, up-down and around but more than worth the climb.
We spent a week of what I would call inner peace and tranquility just having fun with each other, nights of non-stop talking and laughing, running into the cabin when suspicious noice heard by side of the cabin or miserious noices coming from the meadows. Life is good in the wild.
Then came Barbara on two occassions with wonderful homemake cake which we all fought for the last morsels.
Barbara & Jurgen her husband made us feel like one of the family giving us greens from their organic garden and the pleasure of meeting Wanya their dog who also made our stay that much more memorable(visited on a day basis).
If getting away from computer/cell phones and spending memorable time making wonderful memories with loved ones this is the place...
Thank you Barabara ans Jurgen and my family will definitely be back in the near future.
“A very relaxing week on the lake.” We have been visiting the area since childhood and this was the most enjoyable ever. The cottage is perfect for relaxing by lake and leaving our busy lives behind. We were able to keep our boat docked all week thanks to the lift available. The lake provided us dinner on several evenings. Kevin and Kelly were very accommodating and suggested many local attractions in the area. We enjoyed their hospitality and hope to spend more summers in the cottage.
