“Nicely decorated, very well equipped, well maintained and family friendly - a true place to relax” We arrived to find a villa which felt like a family home rather than a show piece and so we were not worrying about the children (3 to 13) breaking something every 5 minutes! Nina was there to hand over the keys as planned and she was very welcoming and friendly and presented the villa in a very clean state. Even during the mid-stay clean Nina didn't just change towels and bedsheets but cleaned the villa from top to bottom. 15 out of 10 for Nina!! A truly lovely person. The villa is in a very peaceful location surrounded by farmland and we never heard anything to disrupt our peace and quiet and so the holiday was very restful and the children enjoyed using the garden and me the BBQ! Afandou beach is only about 2 minutes walk away and is kept clean e.g. on one occasion we saw a broken bottle on the edge of the beach at the pavement one night as we walked home - this had been cleared up the next morning. Afandou beach does get fairly deep quite quickly and so wasn't ideal for our 3 year old. However, there are plenty of alternatives very close by and we used Faliraki beach (5-10 minutes in the car) which is long, soft sand (great for sand castles!) and well catered with taverna's at one end and boat trips from the little harbour or the pool at the Afandou Beach Resort Hotel who were happy for us to be there. We also ate at the hotel one evening but wouldn't recommend it although greek food at the poolside bar was quite good and reasonably priced. There are a choice of supermarkets and tavernas within a short drive and highly recommend Mimakos for the Greek Night (Tues and Wed) which cost us just 60 Euros for two courses and our drinks. This is just 5 - 10 minutes by car. I could go on and on about how we were never short of things to do and how the Greek people were more than just welcoming but I shan't. Needless to say however, if you want a relaxing quiet holiday then you can get it here but with the option to liven it up as much as you want.
