“Mas Mauri Means Much More” Finally, after turning onto an unpaved road and driving up a narrower lane I came to a large metal gate. I was about to enter a combination history mixed with modern conveniences and warm Catalonian hospitality.
Mas Mauri was built in the 1600s, to become the vision of Ramon Raventos, offering the comforts of the 21st Century in a 400 yr. old Catalonian country house. The house is constructed with traditional stonework that keeps the house cool in the warm Catalan summer and warm during winter.
With stunning views over the Empordà Valley and the Pyrenean Mountains, Mas Mauri sits on six acres, surrounded by the local flora and a large garden facing towards the hills. There is a large, clean and sparkling pool with a teak solarium and a sauna that can be used. There is covered parking for up to seven cars.
Catalan cooking is considered the best in the world. Every day at breakfast, you can choose from several restaurant menus and the staff will recommend where to eat for dinner. It is expected that a good dinner goes with good wine. Mas Mauri provides a small bus with driver to take you to dinner and drop you safely back home.
Mas Mauri's interior is built entirely of rock and is well insulated. The spacious interior allows you to enjoy several fireplaces and the under floor central heating is a welcome luxury. There are two large living-rooms with big screenTVs. If you are so inclined, you also can use the fully equipped kitchen to try your hand at Catalonian cooking.
The home has seven modern and spacious double bedrooms for up to 16 people. All have a private on-suite bathroom and two bedrooms are arranged for families w/children to stay. There's also a game room to keep that winning edge. You will admire the classic architecture of this old farm house.
Mas Mauri Golf is for golf. Ten of the best courses are within a 40 minute drive including the world class, Catalunya PGa Resort. Mas Mauri has the best connections and will negotiate the best green fee prices.
