Properties on Holiday Lettings can be sorted/ranked in the following ways:
Orders properties using various data points, in particular: ratings, number of bedrooms/bathrooms, minimum number of nights, and data relating to the interest in/bookings of the property through us, including the advertiser’s rate of providing quotes to travellers who make enquiries. Other factors include price, property capacity, number of photographs, location, amenities, appearance in search results, page views, and the advertiser’s responsiveness and cancellation rate.
Price low to high / high to low
Orders properties based on either (i) the property’s minimum nightly price, if the traveller has searched without dates, or (ii) the average nightly price for the applicable week of the year, if the traveller has input dates.
Orders properties by total number of reviews attached to the listing (highest to lowest), irrespective of average score. Where there is a listing with the same number of reviews as another (or a listing with no reviews), properties are sorted according to their proximity to the searched location.
“A cosy cottage close to all that the Blue Mountains has to offer” The property is an extended old stone cottage, which we visited in winter (morning frosts). The cottage at the front has three bedrooms and a cosy living room with a wood-burning fire. Further back are two great sympathetically-modern bathrooms with heated flooring before a modern well-equipped, open-plan kitchen/dining/living area with a great gas heater. The end result is a property that manages to be both small and cosy, but can still fit 6 people comfortably.
There are bbq facilities outside and a lovely veranda at the front, but it was too cold for us to take advantage.
We went with friends (two couples) for a getaway long weekend, but this could be the base for a longer break for friends or a family. There's off-road parking for 2 or 3 cars. Across the road is what looks like a modern aquatic centre, which was closed when we visited due to covid-19, but would no doubt be great for kids.
Its a 10-minute (largely uphill) walk into the centre of Katoomba, which has all the shops, cafes and restaurants you could need (I recommend the Avalon for food and cocktails!).
Overall, it is a lovely cottage that I am happy to recommend to anyone.
“My Favourite accommodation” I recently travelled from country Victoria to stay at askrigg Cottage while attending medical appointments in Melbourne.
I needed somewhere quiet, close to public transport, walking distance to a variety of shops and a comfortable bed with an en-suite bathroom.
The cottage itself and its location provided all of these and more.
It was a home away from home and as cosy as can be. I had all the utensils I needed to cook with in the kitchen, as well as a delicious gourmet breakfast hamper being an unexpected surprise addition on arrival.
I thoroughly enjoyed preparing and cooking a few `home cooked' meals in the evening while I was there as well.
The decor of the cottage is charming including the lovely lamps in the lounge room and bedroom which shed a wonderful ambience throughout.
There was even a library of interesting books and magazines to read; an assortment of movies to watch and music Cd's to listen to which made my stay even more relaxing.
The hosts of askrigg Cottage, Martin and Berys, cannot do enough to help you with anything you need and are happy for you to knock on their door and `annoy us anytime' as Berys said to me when I did have a question soon after arriving.
I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Melbourne over the years and I often found something disturbing my sleep, as in a noisy air conditioner, the constant slamming of doors by other guests coming and going or traffic noises at all hours. There was nothing to disturb my sleep at askrigg Cottage.
The cottage itself is located at the end of a garden surrounded by trees and vines in the most peaceful setting you could imagine.
It is private, quiet and cosy, providing the perfect combination for a good night's sleep.
It was exactly what I wanted and I really enjoyed my stay over several days at askrigg Cottage.
