“The Owners were delightful, helpful, knowledgeable and well organised - a lovely place to go for an autumn break.” Arrange hire car through owners - again really helpful & well-priced. Lovely taverna 20mins walk in nearest village, and owners have contact with local businesses offering shooting, guided walks etc., so great area in which to relax, or to get busy.

“Novelty fun on olive picking holiday” The owners of the villa supply quality Cretan 'Saint Basil' olive oil. They offer working holidays in November to harvest olives from their trees. It was hard work but very enjoyable. The owners provided a good Cretan style workers lunch and we ate out (as a group) at night in a variety of great value restaurants. The weather was warm and pleasant. The villa was fine as accommodation for a working holiday but would come in to its own in the summer as it extends in to a patio / swimming pool area. There are a number of villas on the same plot but they are well spaced and would afford privacy.

“Couldn't recommend the location & villa enough, but do hire a car when its hot!” This was the perfect villa for a medlded family - the young people at one and andseperated from the adults by the living space. The pool was the perfect size for 5 people who aren't good swimmers and there was plenty of shade for when it got too hot or for those with sensitive skin. The nearby village of Gavalochori had some fabulous and very reasonable taverna, locally made ice creams and a lovely bakery and Almyrida is quite lively at night, though a long way from being dangerous or disgusting like say Faliraki. Although there are quite a lot of historic sites within easy distance, a trip to Knosssos in the summer may be easier (if you have children) by taking a room there for the night. Otherwise you will spend a great deal of a day (and have to be up horribly early) in the car. There is a good supermarket at Kalves that is worth a stop when you come of the major road on the way to the villa. It is hidden from the road but near the Shell garage. This will give you a better choice & prices than available locally.
