The Dickinson Guest House is a quick walk or a free Uber ride to the nearby Expo-Guadalajara on a tree-lined street surrounded by all of the new luxury hotels in the city and a park on both sides of the property. We are a cost-effective Hotel-Alternative for groups traveling together for the same convention or for friends or families coming as tourism and want to privacy in this current period in time.

We have been in business since2006. We chose this location because it is a short ride to the cities historical district.

The historical sites are great to see, but living right in the middle of a large metro area is noisy and just not right for us. And it is always there for the many things to do and be home later! We do get many families for weddings, graduations, and often the Christmas Holidays to visit families living here. We also have many business travelers who choose a large private home over the pricy new hotels in this area. It is within walking distance of the huge Expo Center. Sharing a large house can save a lot of money to purchase gifts to take back home!

While offering all of the same comforts to tourists, we have added the hotel amenities- like high-speed wifi, without the extra charges that are often associated with these nice but often pricier places to stay. The kitchen is open 24/7, and a washer and dryer 'service room' is on the second floor and can be used with no additional charge by a guest staying 4 days or more. Maid service is scheduled for weekdays only but can be added to larger groups- if needed- for a small additional fee per day.

We have a private and knowledgeable tourist guide, if ordered in advance-that will chauffeur you around the city- as well as the artisan towns on the outskirts- not far away. The house is a large one, and the bedrooms can be arranged as needed per room-for the needs of those requesting a particular set up. The home is perfect for a group that knows each other well- or likes the privacy of a nice bedroom in a home setting. We offer to shop for your arrival date, not to need to go to the grocery store immediately. Many plan to do exactly that but are grateful that they have a few basics already in the house so they can rest up! It is a free service from us. There is only a small delivery fee of a few dollars for the driver. Many guests do not realize that they are traveling from Sea level to a mile high city. This will make you want to rest up a bit, and we encourage it.

The house is all keyless security entry from the front security gate to all bedrooms. This has helped greatly from lost keys and for the security of guests who check-in individually at different hours - to make a seamless process of getting to your room without disturbing some of your friends that may have arrived earlier. It is also a privacy added entry for guests who want to enter and leave at will, without bothering their travel partners. Wherever you stay in this fun city-enjoy its vitality, and in this area especially enjoy the over 30 restaurants serving great tacos and local favorites to fine dining- for any pocketbook.

Depending on the size of the group that is staying, we give our guests as much privacy as they wish to have. Someone is always available by phone numbers listed on the kitchen whiteboard. We want you to be comfortable and feel at home. We know that we have achieved this-regardless of what booking site or direct phone call was used to book this large, comfortable home in Guadalajara, Mexico. The only big change that we have made over the years is the convenience of sending check-in codes to guests just before their arrival so that there is never any waiting or lost keys in the event we can not meet you at the exact time you arrive, due to traffic or a late flight.

House rules

Trash is picked up every day, M-SAT. We ask that you use the plastic bags under the kitchen sink on the left side. These scraps need to left outside by the parking gate to keep tropical bugs that we all have seen, to stay outside! The housekeeper's name is Maricruz, who lets herself in around 9 AM. There is a lot of glass to be cleaned inside of the house. And most hotels have moved in this direction as well. Enjoy your stay at the DickinsnGuest House in Guadalajara, Mexico!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Leonardo (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
